Serra Negra is a city and municipality in the state of São Paulo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A3o_Paulo_%28state%29), Brazil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazil). It belongs to the meso-region of Campinas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campinas). Population (2000) was 24,953 inhabitants. Total area: 203,5 km², demographic density: 112 inhab./km²
The name of the city means black mountain in the Portuguese language (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_language). It is located at an altitude of 925 m, in the Serra da Mantiqueira (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serra_da_Mantiqueira), a mountain range which runs mostly along the border of the state of São Paulo and Minas Gerais (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minas_Gerais), and thus it has a mild climate, being also a busy tourism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourism) spot, similarly to its close neighbours, the cities of Lindóia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lind%C3%B3ia) and Águas de Lindóia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%81guas_de_Lind%C3%B3ia)
Serra Negra was founded on 23 September (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_23) 1828 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1828), but at least a century before that the region was already inhabited and was on the passageway between São Paulo and Minas Gerais. It was elevated to the status of city on 21 April (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_21) 1885 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1885). At the end of the 19th century, the region received a large influx of European (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_ethnic_groups) immigrants, mostly Italians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy), who came to work on coffee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee) farms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farm). Mineral water (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mineral_water) sources were discovered by Luiz Rielli in 1928 and the city became a much sought after spa town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spa_town) (it is known as the "City of Health").

Surface: Hard

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/9739/005652bm0.jpg

Valencia is the capital city of Carabobo State (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carabobo_State), and the third largest city of Venezuela (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venezuela).
The city is an economic hub that contains Venezuela's top industries and manufacturing companies. The population of Valencia reached some 1.2 million in the year 2003 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003), and it is expected to grow dramatically in the years to come. Greater Valencia unofficially incorporates the communities of Naguanagua (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naguanagua), San Diego (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Diego%2C_Carabobo), and other smaller bordering cities. It is thought to be greatly underrated, partially due to its proximity to Caracas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caracas) (some 180 km away).
The elevation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elevation) of the city is 520 meters (1,700 ft). Valencia is located in a valley, surrounded by a mountain range called the Coastal Range (Cordillera de la Costa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cordillera_de_la_Costa)). On the eastern outskirts of the city lies Lake Valencia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Valencia), Venezuela's second largest lake.

http://www.yachtcharter-dagen.de/Dagen_Bilder/Hafen/dubrovnik.jpg

Dubrovnik IPA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Phonetic_Alphabet): [ˈdǔ.bro̞ːʋ.nik]) is an historic city on the Adriatic Sea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adriatic_Sea) coast in the extreme south of Croatia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatia), positioned at the terminal end of the Isthmus of Dubrovnik (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isthmus_of_Dubrovnik). It is one of the most prominent tourist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourist) destinations on the Adriatic, a seaport (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seaport) and the centre of Dubrovnik-Neretva county (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubrovnik-Neretva_county). Its population was 43,770 in 2001 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001)[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubrovnik#_note-0) down from 49,728 in 1991 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991).[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubrovnik#_note-1) In 2001 the absolute majority of its citizens declared themselves as Croats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croats) with 88.39% (2001 census (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Census)).
Since 1979, the historic centre of Dubrovnik has been included in the UNESCO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Educational%2C_Scientific_and_Cultu ral_Organisation) list of World Heritage Sites (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Heritage_Site).
The prosperity of the city of Dubrovnik has always been based on maritime trade. In the Middle Ages (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_Ages), as the Republic of Ragusa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Ragusa), it became the only eastern Adriatic city-state (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City-state) to rival Venice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venice). Supported by its wealth and skilled diplomacy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomacy), the city achieved a remarkable level of development, particularly during the 15th (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/15th_century) and 16th centuries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/16th_century). Ragusa was one of the centres of the development of the Croatian language (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatian_language) and literature (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatian_literature), home to many notable poets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poet), playwrights (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playwright), painters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Painter), mathematicians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematician), physicists (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physicist) and other scholars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scholar).
