Castel Gandolfo is a small Italian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy) town in Lazio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazio) that occupies a height overlooking Lake Albano (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Albano) about 30 km south-east of Rome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rome), on the Alban Hills (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alban_Hills). It is best known as the summer residence of the Pope (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope).
Archaeological findings from the 16th century BC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/16th_century_BC) have been found in the area of what is now Castel Gandolfo.
The modern city occupies the site of ancient Alba Longa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alba_Longa), capital of the Latin league. Its name is derived from a fortification of the ducal Gandolfi family (of Genoese (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genoa) origin, named after St. Gondolfus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Gondolfus)) in the 12th century (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12th_century), which passed to the Savelli (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savelli) family from whom the Apostolic Camera purchased it in 1596 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1596) for 150,000 scudi. Pope Clement VIII (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clement_VIII) was the first pope to come to Castel Gandolfo, but the rebuilding of the old castle was the project of Urban VIII (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_VIII) who first came in 1626 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1626).

Farmlands surround Mytilini, the mountains cover the west and to the north. The airport is located a few kilometres south on the small highway.
Mytilini has a beautiful port with ferries to the nearby islands of Lemnos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemnos) and Chios (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chios) and Ayvalık (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayval%C4%B1k) in Turkey. The port also serves the mainland cities of Piraeus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piraeus), Athens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athens) and Thessaloniki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thessaloniki). One ship, named during the 2001 IAAF (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IAAF) games in Edmonton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmonton) Aeolos Kenteris, after Kostas Kenteris (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kostas_Kenteris), used to serve this city (his hometown) with 6-hour routes from Athens and Thessaloniki. The main port serving Mytilini on the Greek mainland is Piraeus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piraeus).

Porto Open 2007

Surface: Clay

http://www.online-reisefuehrer.com/bilder-reisen/portugal/porto-portugal.jpg

Porto (also Oporto; Portuguese (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_language) pron. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pronunciation) IPA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Phonetic_Alphabet): ['poɾtu]) is a city in northern Portugal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portugal) and is the second largest city in Portugal, with a 2005 estimated population of 238,465 in the 15 parishes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freguesia) of Porto municipality,[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porto#_note-0) 1.6 million in the 14 Greater Metropolitan Area of Porto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Metropolitan_Area_of_Porto) municipalities,[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porto#_note-1) which is an administrative and political entity, and 2.99 million people in the broader agglomeration of Porto Metropolitan Region.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porto#_note-tgv)
Due to its economic output (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_output) and market (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Market_%28economics%29) size, Greater Porto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Porto) area is one of the major financial (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finance) and economic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy) centers of the northwestern quarter of the Iberian Peninsula (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iberian_Peninsula). Porto's municipality (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Municipalities_of_Portugal) is the core of a large northern Atlantic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_world) conurbation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conurbation), and Porto district (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porto_district) is one of the most industrialized districts of Portugal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Districts_of_Portugal).
One of Portugal's most internationally famous products, Port wine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_wine), was named after the city because it was originally shipped from the area[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porto#_note-portwine) or, more precisely, from Vila Nova de Gaia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vila_Nova_de_Gaia), a city just across the river which belongs to the same conurbation. The country was also named after the Latin name of this city, Portus Cale
