Israel's Situation obviously isnt good... Anna can do some damage, & optimisticly win her 2 rubbers, can Israel win this one?
i think there is a chance. abviously we need Tzipora to play like a demon, which i know shes capble of, but Anna is the key to victory. opinions?

I wish I knew more about the other female Israeli players. Have a list but they aren't ranked as high as Anna.
I know she will do great at FedCup and hope she doesn't have too much pressure to carry the team. I may be surprised 'cause there are a lot of low ranking players that are so good in each country but don't have the money to get in more tournaments.

The Israeli Fed Cup team has 4 players: Anna Smashnova and Zipi Obziler (in singles) and Hila Rozen and Shahar Pe'er (in doubles).
Anna everyone knows... Zipi and Hila retierd from professional tennis a year or two ago, and Shahar is a very good player, but she's only 15.
I hope that helps...;)

Tzipi is not retired, she reached a semi final of a pro WTA tournament like three months ago, & she still has a ranking

Tzipi is retierd. She just played some small tournaments recently in order to prepare for the Fed Cup matches.
Nimi, you can check the Israeli newspaper "Ma'ariv", of today. It has an interview with Tzipi.

I was wondering if anyone knows why the hell Anna Continues to play in the Fed Cup? Most of the top players (like the Williams sisters, Hingis...) prefer to play in the WTA tournaments instead, since the Fed Cup doesn't bring any ranking points.

there are no WTA tournament in Fed Cup week

Yep, I think we should be happy that we have Anna to play in the Fed Cup...
I'd hate to think what would have happened if she didn't play in the Fed Cup. They'd probably bring a 40 year old that had already retierd, or an even beter option- the 2nd highest ranked Israeli, Yavgania Sabranski ranked 500 and something.
