Venus:

It is the first time she hasnt reached
a SUMMER HARDCOURT final since 1997...
(except for the 2003/6, where she didnt play any tournaments)
1997- USO
1998- Stanford
1999- Stanford, San Diego, New Haven
2000- Stanford, San Diego, New Haven, USO, Olympics
2001- San Diego, New Haven, USO
2002- Standford, San Diego, New Haven, USO
2003- DNP
2004- Stanford
2005- Stanford
2006- DNP
2007- First Time she hasnt reached a final everytime she plays the summer HC

She lost to the EVENTUAL CHAMPION in these years:
1997- Martina Hingis
1998- Lindsay Davenport
2002- Serena Williams
2005- Kim Clijsters
2007- Justine Henin

So she has played 9 USOpens
lost to the eventual champion 5 times and won the tournament 2 times...
has she just been unlucky?

Venus's Tiebreak Record in USO:

1997- SF- Spirlea 7-6 4-6 7-6
1998- 4R- Mary Pierce 6-1 7-6
2000- 3R- Meghann Shaughnessy 7-6 6-1
2004- 1R- Petra Mandula 6-3 7-6
2004- 3R- Chanda Rubin 7-6 6-3
2005- 4R- Serena Williams 7-6 6-2
2007- QF- Jelena Jankovic 4-6 6-1 7-6
2007- SF- Justine Henin 6-7 4-6

she had a perfect 8-0 before going to the 2007 USO SF...
first tie-break lost...

Vs Russian:
1-0 - Maria Kirilenko
weird eh??

Vs Belgian:
1-2 - Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin

Justine Henin:

First to beat Williams in CONSECUTIVE Matches and went on to win a GS.

Once again...
2005 = 2007
all the GS winners managed to give their opponent
a breadstick...

next big tournament... YEC...

welcome back to singles Lindsay...

Incorrect, Hingis was the first to defeat them consecutively in Melbourne 2001 AO in a GS. Sanchez Vicario and Pierce have also defeated them consecutively as well.
