View Full Version : Bagel Girls fantasy tournament (now started)

Jul 12th, 2002, 02:32 AM
Well, a little while back somebody suggested a bagel girls fantasy tournament for the board. I think I have come up with an idea for one, based on a fantasy tennis game a friend of mine used to run. What would happen.... we'd have a draw of 16 bagel girls (or 32 if the game is popular enough) and I'd let everyone enter 2 BG's. How this system works... you would send me 5 different numbers for each player. Then, I would use the "random" button on my calculator to determine the matches. How it would work... say we have Nancy Loeffler-Caro vs. Dewonder Davis. Nancy has the numbers "5,3,4,0,2" and "serves" first. If any of her numbers are generated, then she would "hold" the service game. If any different numbers were generated, then Dewonder would "break" serve. Then, I would generate a number for Dewonder, then Nancy again, etc. until the match is won. There wouldn't be any tiebreaks either, they would just play out the set. I figured this was the best way to do it, since all the BG's are equally bad, and this would make the 'matches' very even. ;)
So what do you guys think? If you want to enter, post in this thread, which player you want and her 5 numbers. If you don't know any Bagel Girls, just tell me and I can assign you one. :)
If you got any questions too just ask!

Can I have Velvet Canada?

If you type those numbers in a calculator, with the 7 between the 1 and 3, then turn it over, it sort of spells "hello". (Actually, try .01134)

I believe Tsippy Waterman is still available.

Jul 12th, 2002, 05:53 PM
LOL @ Brian ;) I'll try that....

I forgot about Velvet! she's entered now! and yes, Tsippy is still available for anyone who wants her. ;)

Jul 12th, 2002, 06:19 PM
And if you type in 2318008 and turn the calculator upside down it spells BOOBIES. Lmao, how immature am I.:D

Jul 12th, 2002, 07:08 PM
u can also type out BOOBLESS but ill let u figure it out.

I saw one of her lost against Manisha Malhorta.

Manisha said after this match that she felt sorry for her and almost gave her a game...but hirt couldn't convert any break point!

Jul 12th, 2002, 07:21 PM
hehehhee, you can enter her if you want! ;)

Jul 12th, 2002, 07:24 PM
Boobless is 22318008:D

Jul 12th, 2002, 07:24 PM

What are ya'lls names....I want to keep an eye out for some future prospects! :D

BTW - Elizabeth Freeman-Young is entered into Evansville (she is on the "Alternate To Qualifying" list. ;)

Jul 12th, 2002, 11:17 PM
I am trying to get entered into the Vancouver 25k :) ... but it's very poorly organized.

Jul 13th, 2002, 07:25 PM
Hi Vanity

You left off my least favorite bagel girl: Martha Garzon-Elkins. Can I put her in? Here's hoping for a first round bagel.

Numbers 0 3 4 6 8

Jul 13th, 2002, 07:28 PM
Easier .......... why don't you just use a DICE
if both throws are the same then next one is the TB ;)

Jul 14th, 2002, 11:41 PM
okay guys, thanks for all the entries. :)

i got 10 players... so I'll make 6 more and then I'll do the draw and post it here :)

Jul 14th, 2002, 11:51 PM
here's the draw....

Karen Fodera vs. Stephanie Hershfield

Keiko Tameishi vs. Laila Shetty

Vanessa Lima vs. Anna Maria Kacca

Nancy Loeffler-Caro vs. Dima Al'Sadi

Ksenia Gorbounova vs. Velvet Canada

Carly Homewood vs. Martha Garzon-Elkins

Ingrid Peltier vs. Becky Brown Katie McGlennen

Dewonder Davis vs. Anais Marie Moreno

Jul 15th, 2002, 12:05 AM
I will also put on a "consolation" tournament for those who get knocked out first round. ;)

Jul 15th, 2002, 12:19 AM
ill kick your ass Keiko!

Jul 15th, 2002, 12:54 AM
I wanted to put Katie Mcglennen in this but it's probably too late but if it isn't 5-8-7-3-2

Jul 15th, 2002, 02:23 AM
selesfan1, since you were the original suggester of a bagel girl tournament (and you seemed to have missed this post before), I'll take out Becky Brown and put in Katie against Ingrid Peltier (neither players belong to anyone).

Jul 15th, 2002, 03:26 AM
Oh no, is it too late?? Can I have any leftover bagel?? lol
4, 6, 7, 9, 2

Jul 15th, 2002, 04:19 AM
Monqiue, you can have Ingrid Peltier. ;)

Jul 15th, 2002, 10:43 AM
I wanna join too
please give me Stefanie Hershfield or Kate Boomershine

Jul 15th, 2002, 08:15 PM
What you've been all waiting for... the first round results of the Bagel Girls Fantasy Tournament! Here they are:

Stephanie Hershfield, def. Karen Fodera, 6-1, 6-2.

Laila Shetty, def. Keiko Tameishi, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Anna Maria Kacca, def. Vanessa Lima, 6-0, 2-6, 6-4.

Nancy Loeffler-Caro def. Dima Al'Sadi, 6-4, 0-6, 6-3.

Velvet Canada, def. Ksenia Gorbounova, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

Carly Homewood def. Martha Garzon-Elkins, 4-6, 10-8, 6-3.

Ingrid Peltier def. Katie McGlennen, 9-7, 0-6, 6-4.

Dewonder Davis def. Anais Marie Moreno, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Well, as you can see, all very close matches except for that first one! We did get a couple of bagels in there. ;)

so, that means the second round match ups will be:

Stephanie Hershfield vs. Laila Shetty
Anna Maria Kacca vs. Nancy Loeffler-Caro
Velvet Canada vs. Carly Homewood
Ingrid Peltier vs. Dewonder Davis

HOWEVER... those bagels who were eliminated ;) don't fret, there's one chance left...

Consolation First Round:

Karen Fodera vs. Keiko Tameishi
Vanessa Lima vs. Dima Al'Sadi
Ksenia Gorbournova vs. Martha Garzon-Elkins
Katie McGlennen vs. Anais Marie Moreno

Jul 15th, 2002, 08:18 PM

Vanity if you don't get bored of this you oculd start a Bagel Girl game with a forum.

that's a good idea Ryan, if enough people were interested to play on a regular basis, I'd do it. :) Although you wouldn't have to send numbers all the time if you didn't want to.

Jul 15th, 2002, 08:32 PM
I would definately join, it'd be a blast!

Jul 15th, 2002, 09:27 PM
go Shetty :D

VSFan1 aka Joshua L. - I was reading the Jewel quote in your sig, and immediately went to my winamp and turned on "Sensitive".

I knew that the quote rang a bell ;)

That is a very cute song :) I downloaded if by accident when I was looking for something else.

OMG.....Rebecca, I totally forgot about having signatures here (I turned them off because it takes forever to load).

Some may call me korny, but her work is very inspirational to me....like whenever I am having a shitty day at work, I listen to her music, and I calm down ;)

That's a good idea for a bagel girl game!!!

I'll take Ariela PRIMO :D

Jul 16th, 2002, 11:03 PM
Well, since this game seems to be becoming popular ;) I can ask the admins to make a game forum. I guess I would call it BGTA... Bagel Girls Tennis Association. ;)

I am going to do today's results right now. :)

Jul 16th, 2002, 11:27 PM
today's results...

Quarter Finals:

Laila Shetty, def. Stephanie Hershfield, 6-0, 6-4. (Laila led 6-0 3-0!!!)
Nancy Loeffler-Caro, def. Anna Maria Kacca, 7-5, 6-3.
Velvet Canada def. Carly Homewood, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.
Dewonder Davis, def. Ingrid Peltier, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.

Consolation first round:

Karen Fodera def. Keiko Tameishi, 6-3, 7-5.
Vanessa Lima def. Dima Al'Sadi, 7-5, 6-4.

Anais Marie Moreno, def. Katie McGlennen, 9-7, 3-6, 8-6.

Well, never thought I'd see a double bagel in a bagel girls tournament! :)

Jul 16th, 2002, 11:43 PM
Nancy is very happy to make the Semis of the first ever BAgel Girl tournament! No bagel this time though:sad:

Jul 17th, 2002, 01:25 AM
Glad to see my least favorite nominee got knocked out in the first round. Great win for Carly! Losing the first set, then taking the second 10-8. Would have been a great match to see.

Then Carly got booted in the quarters. Ah, well.

BTW Vanity, what is the prize money chart for this "elite" tournament?

Jul 17th, 2002, 01:51 AM
Prize money chart? hmm let me do one...

Winner - $1,000,000
Runner Up - $500,000
Semifinalists - $100,000
Quarterfinalists - $50,000
1st round - $1

consolation winner: $20,000
consolation finalist: $10,000
consolation semifinalist: $500
conslation first round: $1

there we go ;)

Martha did lose first round in the main draw, but she won her first match 6-0 6-0 in the consolation!

Jul 17th, 2002, 02:01 AM
Martha Garzon-Elkins, def. Ksenia Gorbounova, 6-0, 6-0.

lol, thats when you know you REALLY suck, when you get double-bageled in the CONSOLATION first round of a BAGEL GIRLS tournament!!!

ARGH! Velvet, Velvet, Velvet. You're not supposed to GIVE bagels. Tsk, this woman has no future. :)

Am I correct in assuming she'll face DeWonder next? Time to take a dive, Velvet. Ignore all of those fans telling you they don't want a Nancy/Dewonder final.

Keiko lost to Karen Fodera? Oh, the shame... :o

Jul 17th, 2002, 02:46 PM
ill stop the Dewonder/Loffer Caro final!!!

Jul 17th, 2002, 04:00 PM
Oh yes, I forgot to post the semifinal matches ;)

Laila Shetty vs. Nancy Loeffler-Caro
Velvet Canada vs. Dewonder Davis

Consolation Semis:

Karen Fodera vs. Vanessa Lima
Martha Garzon-Elkins vs. Anais Marie Moreno

Jul 17th, 2002, 11:00 PM
I'm looking forward to a Nancy/Dewonder final. Don't worry Brian, I'm sure you'll find another talentless girl to cosh, and she won't have the NERVE to win a match. I'd drop Velvet now if I were you, talent is NOT acceptable on the BGTA circuit!:fiery: Semi scores Vanity?;)

Jul 18th, 2002, 12:50 AM
Talk about all or nothing. The first round losers will need to hitch a ride home. Hope Moreno anniliates Martha.

Next questions Vanity; where is the tounament being held and on what network is it telecast. Since it's a fantasy tournament maybe we will finally get some decent TV coverage.

Jul 18th, 2002, 01:00 AM
The tournament is being held in Monte Carlo. :)

The tournament will be telecast on every channel. No one wants to miss this! ;)

Now, i'm off to do the semis results! ;)

Jul 18th, 2002, 01:10 AM
Okay... what you've all waited for ;)

Nancy Loeffler-Caro, def. Laila Shetty, 6-3, 6-2.
Velvet Canada def. Dewonder Davis, 8-6, 6-4.

Consolation Semifinals:

Vanessa Lima, def. Karen Fodera, 9-7, 1-6, 6-4.
Anais Marie Moreno, def. Martha Garzon-Elkins, 8-6, 6-1.

so, that gives us for the finals:

Nancy Loeffler-Caro vs. Velvet Canada

consolation final:

Vanessa Lima vs. Anais Marie Moreno

Jul 18th, 2002, 01:19 AM
Bye Bye Martha. Hope you have to spend your prize money on the ticket home.

Nancy vs. Velvet. Undoubtably going to be the most watched tennis match of all time.

One last thing Vanity, who are the commentators for the tournament?

Jul 18th, 2002, 01:30 AM
The commentators were originally supposed to be Chris Evert and Eddie "the eagle" Edwards. However, everyone complained about Chris Evert's kiss of death, so we managed to get Eva Bes, who is available due to an injury and has some recent experience with receiving bagels. So, Eva Bes and Eddie. ;)

Jul 18th, 2002, 01:34 AM
Great picks Vanity :)

Jul 18th, 2002, 10:56 AM
what about Montanes, he got double bagles on the ATP!!

Jul 18th, 2002, 12:12 PM
Nancy:) THe final should be won 6-0 6-0, just for fun;)

VSFan1 aka Joshua L.
Jul 18th, 2002, 12:17 PM
 Dewonder lost....but she got $100,000 :D

Jul 18th, 2002, 06:14 PM
Vanessa plays the final!!!
Can't you do a round robin draw with the 4 finalists???

Brian Stewart
Jul 18th, 2002, 06:53 PM
Wouldn't it be funny if Nancy won the title, and then failed a drug test? :)

In preperation for the final, I'm bringing Janet "Happy" Ho out of retirement to serve as practice partner for Velvet.

should have taken Tsippy Waterman...

Jul 18th, 2002, 06:58 PM
I am planning to make this into a full game hopefully.... perhaps Happy Ho will come out of retirement and join the tour. ;)

and I am sure Tsippy Waterman will join too. ;)

Jul 18th, 2002, 11:42 PM
Okay guys, I got a forum for this game now.... go here:

I'll be posting rules and what not. Everyone who currently has a player can keep that player, unless you want to switch or not continue on with the game. I'll even run a doubles too, if enough people sign up. :)

Jul 19th, 2002, 01:10 AM
well the moment you've all been waiting for....

Velvet Canada def. Nancy Loeffler Caro 6-4 6-4

Vanessa Lima def. Anais Marie Moreno 5-7 10-8 13-11

Congratulations to Velvet and Vanessa for winning their respective finals. "Nice try" goes out to Nancy and Anais for finishing runner-up. :)

now, please visit the game forum:

Jul 19th, 2002, 05:07 AM
Steffi Graf models the trophy Velvet will be taking home:

Vanessa Lima will receive a lifetime supply of Lender's Fresh Bagels. :)

Jul 19th, 2002, 09:08 AM
Yeah, a lifetime supply of Lender's Fresh Bagels! That's the reason why I lost my first round match, who wants such a stupid throphy when you can have Lender's Fresh Bagels??? ;)

Brian Stewart
Jul 19th, 2002, 11:38 AM
Can you eat the trophy?

Jul 19th, 2002, 09:41 PM
Yes, this trophy will be edible. ;)
