I'm pretty surprised with the one-sided score, still waiting for some kind of breakthrough for Anastasia.

As a side note, does anyone know how Pavlyuchenkova plays?

Pavlyuchenkova is very young, she will have a lot more chances in a near future

Still, she's a prodigy, you'd expect her to be able to make a dent with the seniors now. Paszek is only 7 months older.

Nastya's game resembles Dushevina's quite alot.

Then Nastya will never break through. :o

I have seen Nastya play and her forehand is better than Dushevina's in my opinion. Also not the killer shot, but much more steady.

Well done, Kyra, anyway :D ;)

I was at this match. A lot of the US Open tournament directors were there. They were cheering for Anastasia. Anastasia played well a few points. She was not consistent. It was very hot outside, the opposite conditions of Wednesday when it was cold. That could have affected play.

What kind of game does Kyra have?

Can someone tell me if the correct spelling is Kyra or Kira? I see both used quite often.

Congrats :worship:

Not to me.

They both have serving problems, but Nastya's forehand is already better than Vera's. :tape:

What kind of game does Kyra have?

Nothing special, a journeywoman. Ok groundies, the serve is rather weak, specially the second set. Forehand can be good when on, but when off the weaker shot. Backhand very steady. She can volley if she comes to the net, but that is hardly happening. If she is on confidence, she can beat good players, but she will hardly enter Top80, if Top100 at all.

But I like her... she played in a team in my region some years ago :)

Can someone tell me if the correct spelling is Kyra or Kira? I see both used quite often.

I think she changed the spelling to Kira. It was Kyra until now, but she seemed to have changed it.

It's definitely not.

I don't see the similarities between Nastya and Vera besides the fact that they have serving troubles.

Nastya's solid off both sides, and hits way flatter than Dushevina does.

Nastya goes for the lines a lot and takes risks.

Nastya just needs to get fitter and get a proper coach.
