That is right. After she lost in her first match in the Qualy, Paola Suarez will play her doubles match/matches with the Italian Roberta Vinci and after that she will be officially retired.

All what I can say: :fiery: :bigcry:

I guess it was time...
It's too bad she had to lose in QR1 and not get, say, a Wildcard, draw a top seed and play her last match on Center Court.
I wonder if she will play mixed?

Such a good career. #1 in doubles; I think #9 career high in singles. She didnt win anything huge in singles, but I think she's HOF bound.

I saw Paola at Wimbledon this year play doubles. I also remember seeing her in Paris in 2004 when she got to the semis.

I wish her the best in her retirement.

Paola really wanted to play with VRP in her last year but VRP dumped her for that damn Olympics goal

Gosh, I really hate to see players of her format go. What a personality, what a champ, what a smile.

Paola will be missed. She probably was closer to winning RG 2004 than some here might think. I definitely will remember her run there (and her win over Maggie at Wimbledon 2003 :fiery: :p ).

Paola is a fine champ and a national hero of Argentina. Her faithful and natural personality will never been forgotten - so sad that her last season was not covered with the success she deserved. Sometimes I have to hold back tears when I recall the fact this is her last tournament. You are a great one, Paola!.

Always made sure I checked out the schedules to watch Pao/Vivi at Wimbledon.

Popular with the crowds who were always rooting for them.

Good luck Pao - sure going to miss that smile. :hearts:

I won't forget that smile!! How she enjoyed playing tennis!! How she enjoyed playing with Virginia!! And of course that the crowds were full  Probably she wasn't so succesful in singles but I have to recognise that she was a FANTASTIC doubles player. Millons of titles, a lot of Grand Slams, just GREAT! :bigcry: I WON'T FORGET YOU! AND I KNOW THAT NOBODY WILL.

It was a painful farewell for her as Paola has not been very successful this past year. I wish her the very best in her retirement from tennis since she has a full life ahead of her in the "real" world. I had the opportunity to personally meet Pao and Vivi at the 2006 JP Morgan Chase Open in the Los Angeles area after winning their semi-final match, which they went on to win in doubles. They were introduced to us in the Home Depot Suite after the match and we took photos and they autographed various items for us. Then I saw them at Indian Wells last March and took photos of them, and they autographed the photo that was taken with them from the JP Morgan Tournament.

I wished them then well the rest of the year and that they would be successful at Wimbledon to finally win the women's doubles. They thanked me. Little did I know that Indian Wells was the last Tier 1 tournament they would compete together as a team, making Wimbledon the grand slam doubles titles that eluded them. Oh well.

I too will miss their smiles, especially Vivi giving a kiss on Paola cheek after a match. I got a photo of that kiss at Indian Wells.
