Daniela might lose early if Vakulenko isn't sucking and then Vesnina in the second round if she makes it through the 1R.

Don't think so.

Depends on how Daniela decides to play. She usually does well at slams in any form, so it would be unlikely that she'd lose to Vakulenko or Vesnina. Kirilenko might give her some trouble, but she needs to reach the third round too.

At last year USO Jankovic defeated 3 Top10 players in a row and that was enough only for semi-final. If she was gonna win last year's USO she would've had to beat 5 Top10 players in a row :eek:

Venus' results in the last few years outside of Wimbledon were hardly earth-shattering. Of course on a good day, Hantuchova is able to beat Venus.

first of all...if Radwanska can beat Venus 6-3, 6-0 in Luxembourg last year (albeit Venus was injured), ANYONE can beat Venus if she is injured, especially Hantuchova if she is playing well...

second of all...if Bartoli plays like she did against Jankovic and Henin at Wimbledon, Miss Safarova will not stand a chance! i can see Bartoli beating Serena and Justine to reach the semi's of the USO...i can't, however unfortunately, see her defeating Venus, unless Venus is having a bad day (If she is through to the semi's it's unlikely she's going to have a bad day as she gets better throughout the rounds)

If I had to pick one, I'd go with Safarova def. Bartoli.

I'm afraid it will be either Dani or Marion. Both of them seem to be playing sub par tennis at the moment, but marion has done alright her last two events (QF at toronto & now QF at new haven) so I might let her off the hook. the odds I say will have to be on Dani to be upset first.
