:o

After only losing 5 points in the second set, Sania had multiple chances to break Alona back at 34* to level at 44 but didn't and got broken to love for the match.

Back to the old self Sania. :o

She had fever day before yesterday so may be she was still ill but this was required. Good win for alona and a bad loss for sania.

Still she will kick ass in USO.

No this loss was not expected. I wonder if Sania peaked too early? I think the scheduling could of been a lot better. I question why she played Los Angeles a tier II and not Toronto a tier I event. The Toronto event had MORE POINTS. And I question why her father would make her play Pilot Pen given all the tennis she played in the past month. The girl is exhausted. The girl only had ONE week off and that was last week. Maybe this is a good thing she needs a BREAK. I know Sania wants to get into the top 20 badly but I really believe she is OVERDOING IT. At least now she has a few days to shrug the loss off and prepare for the US OPEN. I am glad Sania is seeded at a slam for the first time.

Agree with you, skipping LA and this one, and playing Toronto would have been a better way. But this defeat may give an extra few days rest before the US Open, and I hope she does well there

My instinct tells me the result augurs well for Sania for the USO. She'll have some more rest and time to prepare, as well as the hunger to get into the groove again. Having a couple of not-so-difficult rounds at the Open, i think she'll get into the groove when the 3rd round begins. I think the doubles play will give a bit of practice too. So, no need to press the panic yet.

C'mon Sania, go for the kill at the USO. Thats what really counts.

Such a shame Sania lost this, she was hitting some decent form. Hopefully she will be fine for the Open. Good fightback from Alona though :)

Bad loss Sania. But better to happen now than next week. Please get it together. She deserves to have a successful US Open.

Hopefully she doesnt dwell too much on this. Bondarenko isn't a bad player. Congrats to her.

Nice win Alona--way to keep fighting after only winning 5 points in the second.

Hopefully you find the form you had earlier this year.
