Dominika Cibulkova.

She's improved her ranking this year mostly by WTA tournaments all year long.

3R @ Roland Garros, Amelia Island
QF @ Prague, Stockholm

Wins over: Medina Garrigues x2, Muller, Dulko, Shvedova, Dushevina

Has forced the likes of Jankovic, Vaidisova, and Hantuchova to 3 sets.

Govortsova has made a much bigger jump than Domi and in a shorter time...

But I have the feeling that Domi will be more consistent and that Olga will end up like the other Olga *poutchkova* I've never seen her play, but that's just my impression :p

Govortsova seems to have more progress than Cibulkova, at least in terms of ranking.

The reason I choose Domi is 1) She's younger 2) unlike most of the other newcomers, she really stuck to WTA tournaments throughout the whole year. She didn't run back to a challengers when she had a rough patch in WTA tournaments. 3) She's an incredible fighter and I'm sure Jelena and Nicole would agree. ;)

I haven't seen Govortsova play much, plus I'm a big fan of Domi, so I know I'm biased.

Govortsova definitely has made a ton of progress and she's been quite impressive with her results.

I haven't seen Olga play either, she just beat Greta twice this year and this annoys the shit out of me.

I console myself by saying that Olga tends to become Newcomer oty and that the losses seemed to have been ok.

But really, Olga has only made that jump because of challengers and a QF appearence in Stanford. Her most notable win was against a slumping Shahar Peer. I don't think the award should be judged on solely ranking jump.

Olga has played a total of 13 challengers events this year and started playing WTA events starting at Istanbul. Domi is a year younger and has made progress faster on the tour. :)

I don't think she should qualify.

She's been on tour a few years now.

Govortsova probably - due to her high rank increase.

that doesnt matter
only thing that counts against you is if you have been in top 100 in any other years.
the one with best rank will get it.

Paszek, Szavay, Goworcowa...

Tamira has the best wins or close matches vs top-players, Agnes won a title and Olga made the biggest jump.

Cibulkova, govortsova, szavay won her first title so..., paszek was up and coming, but this year she really did shine, i think she could win this new comer of the year award that we have in the spring

Hard to say, I'd love to say a kiwi (but they've all had injuries this year)

In that case I think Cibulkova has improved the most as a player, I remember watching some of her matches last year and compared with this year she just seems to have moved up a big notch.
