I hope Zi does better than Na and Shuai did in their first Tier I SF ... in Berlin 2006, Na lost 16 16 to Nadia and Shuai lost by a similar score to Mary in San Diego 2005

cmon Zi :bounce:
watch a video of the Wimbledon SF

With the way the winds are blowing in Toronto, you never know what could happen. Zi is playing well enough, no matter who she is.

I hope Yan's not too tired from battling it out this week. If she's fresh, at her best, and it's windy, I say Yan. If it's not windy...I'll go with Henin.

CTA said no matter yan zi has been doing well in singles lately, she will have to focus on doubles for olympics :weirdo:

That's very unfortunate. The lack of wisdom among the big wigs of Chinese Tennis Federation is astounding. First, they have no confidence that one of their players may win or medal in singles. They should look at what Nicolas Massu has done for Chile. Then, they assume that doubles gold medal is the "must have" no matter what. So they force all players to participate in doubles regardless whether they are good at it.

I have a feeling China will not get the doubles medals they want. The pressure is just too much. The CTF also falsely assume that they will have the greatest depth in doubles teams if they force all their top players to do doubles. But in reality it just take a couple of good teams from other countries to upset the order. For exampel if the Williams sisters enter the game, China's gold dream is over.

yan zi has been a talented singles palyer all along, it is just her focus has always been doubles and she has not playe singles much, though, with her success here, that may change

People are getting WAY to carried away with this run of Yan's, while is a great effort, she is playing the world number one, whos won GS's. I would love Zi to win, but I think Justine 63 63.

OMG. Loads of people are saying Zi Yan.

She's had a good week, and its been a fairytale story for her, but I doubt she can win over Justine, although I might be seriously and horribly wrong.

I think zi has a real chance because she's on a roll and juju is only just coming back from a few weeks off. Even if she looses, she's already back at 78!

I want all Chinese girls to do well. To say Zi has a chance is reasonable but to say she has a REAL chance is just non-sense. Watching Justine played last night...it was just unbelievable especially under VERY difficult conditions. That match also amplified the differences between GS winners and mere title contenders.

Zi beating Ana was great, don't get me wrong and she did well to not lose focus all the way...but it was, imo always down to Ana rather than Zi.

If both play how they played so far, Justine will win in two easy straight sets.

Same here :) Zi needs more experience, more matches with the top players. She has still to learn to be more consitent with her game and, especially with her mind. She will be motivated though. She will play without pressure. Justine has much more chances to win. But this is tennis and you never know what's gonna happen. If Zi playes her best, let's see what happens :)

Try your best, and enjoy the moment Zi :D

Not at all. Nadia has lots of chances against Justine yesterday... and Justine hasn't really played that well... it's her mental toughness that carried her through. Of course, Justine played well when it mattered, but Nadia didn't. I don't think (hopefully not) Zi will make so many Nadia-like shots into the net, but I don't know if she'll be able to deal with Justine's variety either. And did you see that match with Ana? Zi controlled the match and had Ana on a string, so I really don't see who you can say it was always up to Ana. Justine is obviously a different caliber, but I'm not so sure Justine will have an easy time if Zi is on.

Justine should win this in two. With one rather difficult set and one relatively comfortable set. Something like 6-4, 6-1.

However, I hope she does not underestimate her opponent as she did at Wimbledon on that fateful day. :scared:
