The title will probably either go to Nikola, Ksenia or Bojana but I reckon Sacha could pull off an upset here :)

14 CANADIANS ON THE MAIN DRAW BOARD

Repentigny, Saturday August 25th 2007 – The very best of the world junior tennis players will battle on the Larochelle park's courts from august 26th to September 1st in this 22nd edition of the National Bank International Junior Tennis Open at Repentigny.

Almost 200 players 18 or less from 40 countries will take part to win this tournament now at a very high level of competition with many top ranked players on the main draw board, and many young Canadians will be part of it.

The favoris

For the boys, the junior tennis elite battle will be something to watch with players such as Uladzimir Ignatic(BEL) and Matteo Trevisa(ITA) ranked ITF junior's first and second. Ignatik is this year Rolland-Garros' Champion in title and he also was Wimbledon's finalist last month. For the girls, three of the top ten juniors of the world are in, with Nikola Hofmanova(AUT) 6th and Julia Cohen(USA) 7th of the world's junior leading the board.

The Canadians

No less than 14 Canadians are in for the 2007 edition of the tournament. The biggest hopes are with Vasek Pospisil 70th on the ITF and Canadian Champion of the 18 years old or less. For the girls, Anne-Christine Voicu 104th on the ITF is the rising star with Gabriela Dabrowski, Canadian Champion 18 years old or less. The other victorious Canadians from the qualifiyng round are Sam Garforth-Bles, Milos Raonic, Justin Jendruch, Pavel Krainik, Jeremy Langer, Philip Andersen, Brittany Wowchik, Katarena Palivets, Rebecca Marino, Katarina Gajic and Khristina Baljkevitch.

Featured match

The play starts at 09h Sunday morning and attending is free. Don't miss the official opening match between Anne-Christine Voicu from Repentigny against Ioana Iva (56th) from Romania on the central court at 13:30. Anne-Christine who just turned 17th few days ago said she was confident and very proud to play in front of her hometown croud.

Note

Opening ceremonies of the National Bank International Junior Tennis Open will be held on the central court at 13:30 at Larochelle park in Repentigny. Also to mention, that Maxim Lapierre from the Montreal Canadiens hockey club is the honorory President and official spokesman of the Tournament and he will be on site for the finals on September

Raykova must really be the future of Bulgary

Bulgaria have 2 very pomising girls. One is Raykova who has already won some G2's this year and won Eddie Herr's U16's event last year. The other is Viktoria Tomova who is younger but is showing some promising results so far. Raykova will hopefully play more challengers soon to get her ranking up. Bulgaria have a nice future ahead with Pironkova, Karatantcheva and Raykova and maybe Tomova coming through aswell ;)

Simona :) :D

Did all the top contenders for the title loose in protest or something???

Seeds 1,2,5,6 (yes thats the beautiful sacha) and 9 went?
Maybe they played poorly and their oppenents played well?

I can't believe Marino won it! Where does that come from? A few months ago she wasn't even able to win Grade 5 in Canada.

I read that she's 6 foot 2...at 16 years old! She could become the new Akgul Amanmuradova.

She also said a month ago that she's going to college. After the last few weeks maybe she'll change her mind.

Popescu was a very promising player but she had so many unjuries that at one point she had trouble walking, so she quit. We'll never know how good she could have been.

Rebecca is the best player from our province. She hits the ball so hard, but lacks in point construction -- but wow! she was hitting the ball harder than Abigail Spears in the 50k in Vancouver a month ago.

My dad's company just sponsored her as well - perfect timing (well we give her free clothes). ;)
