The last game in the 1st set and the first 8 in the second.

Can't imagine such a streak... RECORD???

I was thinking the same thing... Well maybe not a record overall, but certainly a record for a Tier I QF. :tape:

I doubt it is the record. But maybe like Dexter said for a Tier 1 QF or Tier I match in general.

Wow! Words cannot describe how poor this match was. Nine breaks in a row?!? That may be fine for challengers, but, in a match between a GS Champion and a Top 20 player, it is unacceptable. WHY IS ESPN2 SHOWING THIS MATCH?

I believe there were 9 (or 8?) breaks in a row in the second set of 2005 Filderstadt QF between Mauresmo and Dementieva. That was the worst match between two top-tenners I've ever seen :tape:

Considering the condition which was very very windy, it's hardly surprising.

There were 9 breaks. Amelie finally held to take the second set 6-4 and the match.

Somehow I doubt it's a record...it is WTA after all and this wasn't the first windy day.

Being picky here (sorry!). It was the SF between Amelie and Lindsay. There were 9 breaks in a row in a 6-4 set - the only time anyone held serve was when Linds served it out at 5-4

You're right though - one of the worst displays I've ever seen! It's very rare you get both players serving so badly at the same time. Plus it was indoors so it wasn't as if they could blame it on the wind!!

Yes it was SF but still between Amelie and Lena, not Lindsay ;)

Of course - It was the final where Linds beat Amelie. How forgetful of me!!
