So, yesterday was a really great day. It was supposed to rain a lot, didn't even drip.

So I got there a bit late, and Tati had already demolished Fran, so I ran over to Grandstand to check out some Yan-Danilidou. This was a great match, definitely a Yan fan (teehee) now. The crowd was pretty into it, with people rooting for both players. Quite a few asians in the crowd cheering Zi on. Yan wasn't playing with as much consistency as the day before (obvi) and Danilidou was playing well. I really wish I stayed for the third set, because it looked like it was a barn burner.

But instead I headed over to Henin-Peng. Won't say too much about this one, since it was on TV, but I definitely like Peng. She has a solid, fun game. Sadly, she didn't take advantage of her many opportunities in the first. I left after the first set to go see a match I thought would be great.

Alas, I went to see Schnyder-Petrova. The crowd was sparse at first, and Patty was playing well. She has such an entertaining game, and at 4-3 in the first, Petrova serving, Patty was up 15-40 I believe. Anyway, she bombed the next 4 points, and Petrova was back in it. Patty just couldn't get anything going anymore, it was REALLY dissapointing. The whole crowd was behind her at this point too. She would try these ridiculous dropshots from behind the baseline that sometimes didn't even make the net. :o It was painful, and Petrova just laid on the heat and played extremely consistently and aggressively. Kudos to her, she deserved the win. Patty was whining to the chair a few times, complaining about a linesjudge who was kneeling, saying "does he have to do that? it's confusing me, it's all red over there, I can't concentrate" or something like that in her cute swiss accent.

Then I snuck over to Kuznetsova-Shaugnessy. Boring. Shaugnessy was hitting well actually, but you could tell it was an easy win for Kuznetsova. I left after the first set.

Then I went over to see Peer-Razzano. I was sitting directly (one seat) in front of Razzano's coach, he kept shouting "allez vie, allez" or "aiiee inie, allez" or something like that. Needless to say he was pretty happy with Virginie's win, she deserved it. She was very very consistent, didn't give Peer many chances. Peer was getting frustrated, and upset with one line call she had every right to be mad about, it was miles long. I thought a comeback was brewing in the second, but that got shut down by the frenchwoman. She has a solid ground game, okay serve (not too great), and decent volleys. She was just playing smart tennis.
Lots of Peer support here.

The next match on court was Kuznetsova/Petrova vs. Bondarenkos. It was a packed house because people didnt want to go home, and the centre court was finished for the day. When Petrova/Kuznetsova entered, they were actually smiling and laughing a ton, Svetlana kept making jokes, and they'd joke around with the Bondarenkos. It was a good time. :D Petrova seemed not so personality-less. This was a fun match, with some solid points. The russians dominated the tiebreak, Alona wasn't too happy with herself, smacking her racquet a bunch.

More to come....

Okay so in the night matches, the crowd was pretty big. Biggest yet I'm sure.
Jankovic-Bammer was little more than a warmup for the amazingness that was

Safina-Bartoli. It was great times, crowd was electric, Safina was hitting some great winners, Bartoli was playing awesome tennis, and it was just a really fun, entertaining match. This fat chick wouldn't shut up in front of me though, she kept laughing at Safina's grunt and stuff, and was trying to be funny. :o But I ended up moving up as close as possible once people left.

So yeah, it was fun.

Were you by the practice courts where Rezai, then Bartoli was practicing? :p

I also saw Petrova vs Schnyder and Peer vs Razzano. Too lazy to do real reports. I just remember a fan yelling out something that sounded like Hebrew with affected Peer (and she yelled out something in frustration in that language towards the fan) and she got broken at the end of the second set. Then there was a baby crying at the beginning of the second set that may have distracted Peer once more. The crowd was really behind Peer, so my sis and I cheer for Razzano. ;) Razzano and Peer had some really nice rallies going on.

I really enjoyed Patty vs Nadia match. It's pretty impressive to watch the kind of shots women can do. I thought Patty hit mostly with spin (at least she's seems to be considered a moonballer on this board) but I thought she could hit hard and flat at times too. But I'm no tennis expert. :tape:

I also really like Schiavone's game but I was glad to see her lose handily to Golovin, earlier during the day.

Safina looks really fit in real life. Much better than on tv. Same with the other players, even Nadia. :speakles:

Nadia & Kuzzie seem to have a lot of fun during their doubles matches...... Anyhow, I'll stop now.... This Stevos' thread! :o

YES! I was there for awhile. Did you see the guy calling her a "goddess"? (Rezai).
Were you the hot chick sitting in the chair for awhile with another girl? Which one was you? My camera ran out of batteries so I couldn't take any of Rezai, but me and Rezai had a little chat.

Someone yelled "ella!" or something like that during the Shahar match. And their was really good rallies, and yeah saw Safina practice too.

:haha: I missed that part. I really wanted to see Safina practice, so I kept going from the court where Rezai was practicing to the other ones. :o

I doubt you saw me then. I didn't sit down for long. I was the black woman. ;)

I stayed just for a little while for Safina's practice too. I was getting tired ... Long day of tennis.

Look Patty being nice at the net even though she lost and Petrova "the bitch" doesn't even look her in the eyes!
