We should get used to top 4 players losing matches 3 and 1: Maria and Ana

Back in the days when Williams sisters, Martina, Capriati, Lindsay, Kim, Justine, Mary, Amelie were at the top of the rankings... A top 4 player losing a match by winning only 4 games would happen like once or twice a year. With now one trick ponies Maria and Ana in the top 4, it has become a regular thing.

Maria has already lost 5 matches this year by winning 4 or less games.

Ana 5 times too.

Well at least Masha lost 3 of the 5 matches to the Williams which were just unstoppable in those matches especially Venus.

It's hardly as if Maria's losing to nobodys? :tape: x3 WS and x2 Ivanovic is hardly anything to be ashamed about. At times Ana can also be a little inconsistent, but to say we should get used to players like her and Maria losing less than 4 games in a match on a regular basis is a bit of a joke.

I would feel bad if she didn't spend every post of her's trolling around and only contributing negativity to the board. There is a difference between bringing up points for discussion and spamming.

Top players have bad, sometimes terrible days just like everyone else.

Imagine your worst day in a month and trying to go out and play a match against an opponent that is in the zone from the first strike of the ball.

And match scores don't count for anything anyway...

how about Capriati of 2002? she was ranked between 1-3 all year some of her results

Mauresmo (#10) def. Capriati 6-4,6-1
Martinez (#47) def. Capriati 6-0,6-3
Stevenson (#22) def. Capriati 6-1,6-1

and also in that year she only beat 1 top 10 player in straight sets
Australian Open QF def. Mauresmo (#9) 6-2,6-2

granted her matches aren't dropping 4 games but the quality of players is lower than Maria's losses.

Also she only had 6 top ten wins all year. Daniela ranked #8-38 that year had 6 also!

top players lose matches early sometimes...
