If you were asked to make a decision in choosing the Player of the Year for 2007 now, who would you have picked?

It probably should be Justine for being so consistent this year, but I still think Serena.

for me it will be Venus, she's my player of the year every year!

Justine is still a field ahead. Justine has 1 slam and 4 titles, 3 titles more then the other two and has shown she's always the one to beat.

Justine no doubt.

Justine of course. Cannot pick Serena since her H2H against Justine is 1-2 and since she has only 2 titles to Justine's 5 titles.

I like Ana and all, but what has she done to get herself into this conversation?

It's Justine by a mile so far. Justine WILL be the player of the year unless someone goes berserk on the hardcourts and indoors season and wins the USO (or if Vnus or Serena just win the US Open).

Well Justine is the best  But if I would choose most suprising uprise than it would be Ana Ivanović, biggest comeback Serena and Venus, most consistent Janković and Chakvetadze... and so on :D

Serena - she is welcomed for coming back and won a Slam

Justine - for her consistency in 2007 and tremendous result so far ( played only 9 tournaments but owned 1 Slam and 4 titles )

Ivanovic - A new rising star in 2007

Jankovic - same as Ivanovic

Justine so far no doubt, she's the most consistent and wins most. Ana's improvement is impressive, but if she doesn't win US Open (which I hope & believe she is going to) she shouldn't be considered.

Its Jelena Jankovic by a mile

From starting the year outside the top 10 to deservingly being in the top 3. Winning title after title, just not being able to perform at her best at the Grand Slams - still theirs one left and its the one she's always had the highest chance at winning :)

Also Lucie Safarova has had a wonderful year, and Sybilles played outstanding too.

What happenned to Dinara Safina - she started off so well and hasnt dont much since she left Australia

Ivanovic and Jankovic as the best newcomers into Top 10!
Justine as number 1 player in the world!
And I have to admit (even if I hate them) the Williams Sisters with their comeback winning both a Slam!

RESPECT FOR THOSE 5 WOMEN

Venus is my player of the year this year. Justine has been consistent at winning tier twos  and won the slam she seeems destined to do forever these days, but there has been nothing spectecular for her. Venus only has wimbledon and a tier 3, but on form, i think her best has been better then anas, serena's or Justine's.

1. Henin: RG Title, Dubai Tier II Title, Doha TierII Title, Warsaw TierII Title, Eastbourne Tier II Title, Wimbledon SF, Miami Tier I Final, Berlin TierI SF

2. Serena: AO Title, Miami Tier I Title, RG Quater Final, Wimbledon QF, Rome Tier I QF

3. Venus: Wimbledon Title, Memphis Tier III Title, Charleston Tier I SF

4. Ivanovic: RG Final, Berlin Tier I Title, Wimbledon SF, Tokyo Tier I Final, LA TierII Title, AI TierII SF

5. Jankovic: Rome TierI Title, Charleston TierI Title, RG SF, Dubai TierII SF, Doha TierII SF, Sydney TierII F, Birmingham TierIII Title, Rosmalen TierIII F, Aukland TierIV Title

6. Chakvetadze: Stanford TierII Title, Rosmalen TierIII Title, Cincinatti TierIII Title, Hobart TierIV Title, Miami TierI SF, Antwerp TierII SF, AO QF, RG QF

There's the breakdown, with the 3 slam champions top and then the best 3 without a slam this year. After those 6, would come Kuznetsova, Vaidisova, Petrova, Bartoli, Hantuchova, Dementieva, Hingis

I ddin't say she was results wide that much is apparent, but my player of the year on best form at any particular stage is Venus. Like I said, I think the ways she played in her best tournament was better than how Henin or Serena played on the whole. I feel the bold is untrue, how someone ranked outside the top 30 can be destined to win wimbledon is a bizarre circumstance for me to comprehend, perhaps you could explain, before this year Henin had already won the french three of the previous 4 years, Venus only once in the last 5 years. Peculiar that.

If her form was the best out of all the others, how come outside of 1 tournament(Wimbledon),her results suck?
Show some class and give credit where it's due...................oh wait, that's not the Williams way is it? LOL!!!!!!!

SOOOOOOOO TRUE!!!

if anyone other than the 3 winners win the remaining slam justine will still be ahead of the sisters they don't have the consistency

alos if either jsutine, serena or venus win the US they are pretty much automatically the the player of the year.

isn't it strange justine missed the AO and is still currerntly the best player of the year
