:worship:Mima Jausovec is from Slovenia and also she played only for former (big) Yugoslavia.

Here is only players which played for Serbia (and Montenegro) part of former Yugoslavia after "Big Yugoslavia" crash in 1991 and reach in some point of they's career TOP5 when represent that country.

Also, for greate tennis nations (like USA and Serbia ) you must be atleast WTA TOP5 in some moment if you want to be in Hall of Fame. That is reason why here is not place for solid TOP100 players like Jecmenica or Nacuk.

Did you notice that whole Asia (1), Africa (1) and South America (1) altogheter have less TOP5 players in history (3) than litle Serbia (4) ???

Monica :rocker2:
Jelena J. :rocker2:
Ana :rocker2:
Jelena D. :rocker2:

In terms of achievements, positions 1 and 4 are no-brainers. The situation is not so clearcut though between Jelena and Ana on positions 2-3. Some statistics would probably help in determining who's currently got the edge between them two, but all that may change in just a weeks time, that's how even they are...

As for the top 5 count, I assume you've added Seles to both Serbia and USA since she was top 5 representing both countries?

Yes, but she was top 5 for USA as well, so my question was if she is counted twice for that reason. Also, I think the same might apply for Navratilova, but I'm not sure whether she reached top 5 before she switched to USA...

Also, I think the same might apply for Navratilova, but I'm not sure whether she reached top 5 before she switched to USA...Yes, Monica counted for both - Serbia and USA, because in both cases she reach TOP5 position, and this is only case like this because for example Dokic best ranking when played for Australia is #26 and i think that Navratilova go in USA in 1975 from Czechoslovakia couple months before first WTA ranking list in history, and also Mandlikova is out of TOP5 (but still in TOP15) when go in Australia two years before retire...

Only to notice one "historical" achivment for Serbia after Indian Wells 2008. Serbia become 5th country in WTA history (8th in Tennis History) with 2 players in TOP3 in same time:

ATP-Australia (Laver, Newcombe) - since 1974
ATP-USA (Connors, Ashe) - since 1975
WTA-USA (Evert, King) - since november 1975
ATP-Sweden (Wilander, Edberg) - since 1986
WTA-Spain (Sanchez-Vicario, Martinez) - since march 1994
WTA-Belgium (Henin, Clijsters) - since june 2003
WTA-Russia (Sharapova, Kuznetsova) - since april 2007
WTA-Serbia (Ivanovic, Jankovic) - since march 2008

New historical achivment for Serbia! Ana Ivanovic week after Roland Garros will be 17th WTA#1 in WTA history (and 2nd from Serbia). Also if Ivanovic win title she will be 2nd Serbian grand slam winner (after Monica Seles which reach 8 of her career 9 GS titles playing for Yugoslavia).

I put today "official request" (http://www.tennisforum.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=14323664) to tennisforum.com administrators to put this SERBIAN SENSATION players forum up close to top

When this WTAWorld (TennisForum) site started in begining of this century it's most logical choice to put USA players forum on top (sisters, Davenport, Capriati, Seles...) and Belgium (Justine and Kim), followed with upcoming Russian WTA "army" (Kournikova, Dementieva, Myskina...) and French Players forum (Mauresmo, Pierce...).

But couple years late, especially after shocking retirement of both Belgians and big improvment of two Serbian stars (when WTAW started Serbs have only Jelena Dokic of elite players) we have simple new order, new reality in WTA since this 2008 season:

All Grand Slam champions and even all 2008 GS finalists (14 of 16 semifinalists) is only Players from USA, RUSSIA and SERBIA, which also reach all seasons tier-I titles, OG medals, Hopman and FED CUP titles and all 8 players which will play at YEC will be from this three countries. So no need to explain why in current moment "WTA BIG THREE" now and in near future means USA, RUS & SRB.

So my suggestion to admins/mods of this forum is to put "Russian Roulette" and "Serbian Sensations" forums up to top (together with "Team USA" forum). Tennis stars like sisters, both Serbs, Sharapova, Dementieva... is real international tennis stars with many fans around world, so reason for this change is practical (and common sense). This forum even change name this season (TennisForum instead WTAWorld), so why not to accept new order in womans tennis in "PLAYER FORUMS" part and instead so far USA-BEL-RUS-FRA-... (from TOP to bottom) order which perfectly shows what we see in WTA between 2001-2007 - to be changed in now way more logical USA-RUS-SRB...?I dont see any sense when players from Serbia, Russia and USA almost monopolize womans tennis right now (in terms of big achivments) that forum about Serbian players is still with 10th "priority" here, and this thread shows that last 15 months when 2 Serbian players is consistent in WTA TOP5 is not so big surprise because players which represent Serbia in past also have big achivments. Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic (Monica Seles and Jelena Dokic before) is big international stars of womens tennis right now with huge fan basis around world, so this SERBIAN SENSATION forum must be moved close to TOP (together with American and Russian players forums, no mater in which order) because of new WTA reality (new tennisforum reality also if we look at fan-basis) and practical reasons.
