Unfortuantely due toa lack of players we have to go down toa 16 player draw with a horrible 10 players in qualifying. I am sory ot those 10, but hopefully we can getmore in for next week. <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

Mary Wong ready to play
Mary Wong is in a hord of troubles recently, pulling out of events including her own exhibition, she said she is very upset about the whole thing, and she hope everything will put into place soon. She is honoured to be listed in the team of champions and she is happy about that. She do not want to comment about the recent scandal, she said as a junior she should really shut her mouth, she also said that last week exhibition is fun and playing against so many good players and get to beat all in doubles is just amazing.

shizu katsumi hoping for dramatic form reversal
world number one shizu katsumi is currently playing like a world number 100. she hasn't won a match for many weeks and her losing streak is roughly 10 matches.
She comes to the eddie herr championships with the knowledge that another early loss here and she can kiss her number one rank goodbye!
reports say she has put on 19 kilograms since her last victory which is the reason why she has lost all her matches since. In the last 2 weeks she has lost 11 of those kilos in the hope of being able to run around the court as those extra kilos affected her court speed and her stamina!
She has since accepted the invitation to join the training group "team champion."
With good friend Anna Kournikova-Elia by her side, expect shizu to come good soon, and show the tennis world why she is number one!
Leslie Ann Messay Arrives<br />Leslie Ann Messay, runner up at the Bejing Jr. Cup last week, arrived today at the Eddie Herr Championships. Leslie is questionable on whether she will play or not because she has the flu, in which she says she recieved from a baby sitting by her on the plane. Messay hopes to be okay and do well anways.

Paul how many points was The bejing Junior cup worth?

The return of ex-top juniors and new additions saw the seeds struggle today as the likes of Delacour, Feranandez and Van Krupmt securing surprising victories. However, Adeva claimed her first singles win with a vistory of Mia-Ling Keller.<br /> <br />In doubles; Katsumi/Kournikova-Elia suffered another embarssing loss at the hand of Dokitch/Wong, who breezed through thanks to some fine teamwork without teh loss of a game.
Dokitch bt Kournikova-Elia 63 75<br />Delacour bt Messay 36 75 64<br />Adeva bt Keller 60 67(4) 62<br />Fernandez bt Seles 57 64 76(13) [Seles wasted 17 match points in the final two sets!!]<br />Van Krumpt bt Hingis 26 76(2) 63
Daniela is very happy with her form and the doubles with Mary Wong:
'I'm starting to play well now and it's really good for me. I can't wait to play in the main draw where I should be. Me and Mary played fantastic! To beat them in a double bagel is amazing! Let's go Mary!
Mary wong happy with form, look forward to maindraw
Mary Wong said she is so thrilled to double bagel a good team and she said she is happy with her form, and hope she can go far in this tournament especially the singles, where she loss all her tour match ever since she won in Hong Kong

omg lol and very embaressed at the same time @ the score in doubles!
shizu apologizes to her friend anna! she was disastrous, and only hit 6 balls in the whole time! she is supposed to be improvng but the slide is obviously continuing! <img src="redface.gif" border="0"> <img src="redface.gif" border="0">
rumour has it that shizu is considering retirement! shizu immediately squashed those rumours in a press conference held today!
"i refuse to leave on a low!" she says "maybe i am a doubles klutz so this is why i am asking anna if she still wants to be my partner... she is such a good player and i feel like i am letting her down by me playing the way i am! i am giving her the opportunity to leave me in doubles and find a partner she can win with because i feel like i am preventing her from winning many doubles titles and even singles titles by me and her training together!~!"
anna kournikova-elia is expceted to reply in the near future!

Barbara Miele bt (4)Mary Wong 64 16 63
(1)Shizu Katsumi bt Caroline Spencer 36 75 64
Anne Gambill bt Q-Delacour 62 26 76(12)
Miele survived a second set blip to upset Wong in 3 after a fierce contest.
Katsumi came through a close one against Venezuela's Spencer. Katsumi gets her first win for weeks in shaky style.
Gambill caused another upset defeating returning star Delacour in a mammoth tie break which saw some wonderful tennis on bth sides of the net.
Anabel Conde-Martinez bt Linzi Paterson 06 64 63
Q-Adeva bt (2)Lara Miele 61 06 76(4)
Katerina Molik bt (3)Elena Dokic 76(6) 67(16) 76(6)
Paterson suffered her first ever 1st round defeat afteran amzong 1st set which lasted under 15minutes. From then Conde-Martinez used her speed and power to devastate the little Scot.
Qualifier Meghann Adeva secured her firts tour win in style over 2nd seed Lara Miele. Miele's hopes of taking the number 1 spot in singles were crushed in an even match which ended in a nervous tie-break. Adeva taking it on her 2nd match point.
The upsets cotinued as polish player Molik won a thrilling encounter against 3rd seed Elena Dokic of Spain. Not a single break of serve occured in the whole match, indeed only 3 mini-breaks took place as well! 56 Aces were hit in total by the two players as Molik sneaked through 76(6) in the third.
Ana-Maria Herrera bt Q-Van Krumpt 62 16 76(2)
Q-Dokitch bt Q-Fernandez 63 26 76(3)
Herrera bt young qualifier Van Krumpt in a match that would have been closer than Ana-Maria would ahve liked. The feisty American making her debut went for all her shots and showed her capability in the 2nd set. However, Herrera's experience payed in teh final set tie-break.
The battle of teh qualifiers out on court 2 took a simialr turn of events. With themore experienced player coming out on top in teh 3rd set. Fernandez was not outclassed however, and had chances to take the match when leading 5-4 30-0 on Dokitch's serve. Dokitch will now face top seed Katsumi on centre court tomorrow.

Mary Wong wept after losing streak continue
Mary Wong cried helplessly as she was handed another defeat, after to lost the match, she slumps into her coach shoulders for minutes. She has to be comforted and lead off the court by her coach. Here is what she has to say.
'I really don't know what happen to my game, ever since I won my first title, it is all going wrong. Hopefully it will get better'
<font size=2>After losing to Daniela Dokitch Wednesday at the Eddie Herr Championships, Fernandez was visibly distressed.
At the close of the match, Fernandez threw down her racquet and stormed off the court in disgust. Later, screams were heard in the locker room and tournament officials stormed in to find Fernandez beating the hell out of Dokitch's locker and equipment.
"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god... not to that bitch! Not to her! Oh my god, oh my god..." was all that Fernandez would say. They immediately took her to the hospital were she was put on tranquilizers.
While Fernandez has been said to be thought "nuts" as the doctor told reporters... it seems she will be able to play in the doubles tournament.
Daniela Dokitch could not be reached for comment.

Yay! Great match by Masterton.good luck next time <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
The less succesfull Miele sister made the press pay attention to her today after a fine win of Mexico's Herrera. After a nervous start (which saw Miele hand Herrera the set with a double fault), Barabagot into her grove, breaking Herrera in the 11th game with a fine backhand. Miele broke at teh start of teh 3rd set and took the match on her first match point with an ace.
The last remaining seed in teh competition was knocked out infront of a packed centre court and Katsumi fell to qualifier Dokitch. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Katsumi choked on numerous occasion to allow Daniela to claim teh shock win. At 5-1 up in the 2nd set, Katsumi produced a series of errors to allow Dokic back into the set and teh plucky Australia never looked back. Caliming the win on her 2nd match point 7-4 in teh tie-breaker.
Top doubles seed pairing Molik/COnde-Martinez fell at teh first hurdle againt the surprise pairing of Hingis/Fernandez in 3 sets. Despite a marvellou 2nd set, the spanish/polish hybrid fell to the untried team after a lacklusture third set. Molik pushing an esay volley wide to hand the match to the Wild Cards.
Anabel Conde-Martinez bt Meghann Adeva 16 64 60
Anne Gambill bt Katerina Kriventcheva-Molik 75 16 62
Dokic/Wong bt (2)Miele/Miele 64 64
After a nightmare start, Conde-Martinez breezed past qualifier Adeva, bagelling her opponent in teh final set fro teh loss of just 8 points. Conde-Martinez must now overcome Brazilian Barabara Miele if she wishes to reach the final.
Talented Brit starlet Anne Gambill came through a potentially tricky tie against Molik in style. After a tight first set, Molik got a good rythm going, andmade just 5 unforced errors as she breezed through 61. However, undettered, the stocky brit hit some huge groundstrokes that had teh polish player running all over the place. Gambill wil now face qualifier Daniela Dokitch.
It almost went to script. The defeat of top pairing by Wild Card entrants was follwoed minutes later by the demise of 2nd seeds Miele/Miele. Lara Miele will be particualry disappointed as she has wasted her chances fo becoming no1 in both singles and doubles. Qualifiers Dokitch/Wong (Dokitch had already claimed one upset) seemed able to match the wonderful play of the sisters, and broke early to lead 3-1, taing teh set 6-4. In teh second set, the communictaion fell apart between teh Brazilian pairing, as they dissapointingly went out 6-4 6-4 infront of a big crowd.
(3)Paterson/Spencer bt Herrera/Seles 67(3) 76(5) 76(1) in a classic encounter on centre court, with many spectators staying late to watch this amzing match. Seles showed skill beyond her years at teh net, while Scot Paterson defied her slim frame packing a powerful kick serve that claimed her 15 aces. Herrera won the first set with a classy drop shot and then arced to a 4-1 lead. Spencer's speed allowed the Scot/Venezuelan pair to reclaim teh break, taking it on another tie-break 7-5 after Paterson's ace tricked Herrera. The third set was marvellous tennis. And a set that would not have loked out of place in thepro's as serve was not broken ina set that lasted over 1h20mins. Paterson/Spencer finally taking it on the 6th mathc point with a fine backhand volley from Carolina.
Adeva/Messay bt (3)Gambill/Dokic 62 76(6) out on court two, as the new team struggled to gell. TYhe experience pairing proved the stronger in teh first set, infront of a sparce crowd with some fine play byu both players. The second set was much closer though, and it nedded a poor loib by Dokic to allow Messay to smash the ball and calim victory.

D. DOCKITCH/(1) S. Katsumi 7-6(0) 7-6(4)

<br />Interview with: Daniela Dockitch
MODERATOR: Questions for Daniela....
<br />Q: Daniela, how do you feel right now. 3 wins in a row, coming from qualifying to the semis?
A: It feels great but I mean, I always expected to be here. You know, before I went back to school I was ranked no 2, you know, I spent a few weeks at no 1 so I always knew I could do well on the tour. It was a little tough having to play quallies but it's been good getting the matches in.
Q: You beat the world no 1. How does that feel?
A: It feels real good. I mean, she's a class act and she's in the Team Champion with me you know, so she's always going to be tough. I think we played once before and she beat me, so It would be tough, going up against her. She's been playing some good tennis but I knew that if my strokes were working then I could overpower her a little. It was really tough, I think it was pretty much just mental
Q: Speaking more about Team Champion, hwo has it been?
A: It's been good. It's a very good group, they push you a lot and it helps with your play, this week has been great. Talking with Jelena, Selima and Sabine is really good, they have a lot of advice. I think they plan to set up 2 training academies in Hamburg and Florida.
Q: Next up for you is Gambill?
A: Yeah, I lost to her last time we played I think but I'm playing a lot better than that. Hopefully I can do well.
Q: You and Mary seem to have a good partnership, upsetting the 2nd seeds?
A: Yeah, we play well together. You know, we did win the US Open together so I wouldn't really call it an upset. We hope to keep going here.
Jana Hingis, we make a pretty good team... well, you make it, lol <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> congrats... upsetting the first seeds.... Zerene is having a hell of a month! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">
Katarina Kriventcheva-Molik is very disappointed that she lost in both singles and doubles. And did it have to be her to miss the easy volley to lose in doubles???? <img src="wink.gif" border="0"> Oh well, Conde-Martinez/Molik must discuss strategies as they are on a slump lately after winning the first ever new-Fwtt juniors doubles tournie. Oh well, the Miele sisters lost so maybe that will help us! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> <img src="wink.gif" border="0"> . Katarina needs to shape up in singles!
she tried her best! daniela is a rising star no doubt about it and will be a force to be reckoned with in the not so distant future!
anna kournikova elia: shizu is the one letting you down... not the other way! shizu wants to keep playing doubles with you but she feels she shouldn't because she is letting you down too much! shizu knows you are much much better than her in both singles and doubles at the moment and shizu feels it would be best if you found a doubles partner at your standard! <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

<font size=5>Barbara Miele wins Ana Maria in Eddie Herr, while she and her sister, loses the chances to lead the doubles ranking</font><br />The younger of the Mieles sister today proved her real power of reaction and to overpower her opponents. After a verbal fight bewteen her and Ana Maria in Andorra, Barbara says that this match meant a lot for her "I had to win this match. I had to prove Ana Maria that she is not playing a someone. And that I won't give up to fight, just because I am playing a Wimbledon champion." said Barbara on the press conference.
She admit that she was nervous, due her last results "I was wanting to do my best. I knew I could win, cause I won Mary (Wong) yesterday, so, I knew I had chances."
Happiness for only one Miele. Cause the sister lost the chance to lead the ranking. After Barbara's win, she cameback to play doubles with her sister, Lara, who surprisingly lost to qualifying Adeva. The second seeds, lost to Dokic and Wong, who played qualifyings before the tournament begins "I think we were tired, we played in Beijing, and we won, and we didn't lost since Andorra" explained Lara.
Barbara Miele faces friend Marta Maria Conde Martinez, in the semifinals "Will be tough, but if I won two tights matches, with two tremendous players, I can defeat her" said confident Miele, who plays tomorrow on the centre court.

Anne Gambill bt Daniela Dokitch 63 76(2)
Marta Maria Conde-Martinez bt Barabar Miele <br /> 36 75 75
Anne Gambill came through a close encounter with qualifier Dkitch on centre court. The Brit, who's friend and doubles parter Sara Sabatini left the tour recently, broke Dokitch in teh first game, taking teh set 6-3 in 40 mins. The second set was adifferent affiar, with Daniela having muh of the upper hand, and had 3 set points at 5-4 0-40. However Gambill held her nerve and took it in teh tie-break to claim a place in teh final.
Conde-Martinez ended the hopes of young Brazilian Barbara Miele with a patchy display. After dropping teh 1st set 6-3, she looked on her way out after droppin to a 5-2 defecet. UNderterred she came back to take teh set with an ace. The third set mirrored the 2nd, this time Marta taking teh lead before Barabara battle back, but it wasn't enough as the Spainaird eased her way into teh final.
Adeva/Messay bt Dokitch/Wong 76(1) 16 64
Adeva/Messay nipped past the qualifiers, who suffered due to a tired Dokitch. After taking teh first set 7-1 in the tie-break, the favourites lost their way, being slaughtered 6-1 in the second. A break in the 9th game, ensured that the American/Philipino hybrid would play their first final.
Hingis/Fernandez bt (3)Paterson/Spencer
The last seeds in the tournament fell in dramatic style on court 1, and for the first time, there will be no seeds in the final. After droppng the first set 63, Spencer called the trainer for what looked like a thigh strain, before coming back on to court to help secure the second set 6-2 with a smash. Paterson was next to call the trainer after a nasty fall, and the trainer was agin called at 3-3 after the cut started to bleed badly. Hingis/Feranndez seized teh oppertunity by hitting balls all over the court with extreme accuracy, Fernandez winnign teh match with a beatufil croos court forehand.

<font size=6>The Overrated sister</font><br />The big sister had her light turned off by her little sister, who gained more attention this week. Barbara Miele reached her first semifinals. The-15-years-old, daughter of a German man, Leo Schultz, who train both sisters, was proud of Barbara this week "I'm sure she'll do more performances like this. She's not a weak player. She is dangerous, and she showed everyone this here." said the proud dad. Barbara had a tremendous beginning against the younger of the Conde Martinez sisters, winning it by 6-3. Then Miele kept her good consistency having an advantage of 5-2. Making Marta Maria comingback to win 5 games in a row to close the second set. The battle of the unseeds had a tense end. Marta Maria who begun better than third and decisive set, opening with a break 2-0, and then Miele didn't give up, tieing everything 2-2. But suddenly Marta Maria found her rythym again and making winners, and being helped by Miele's error, Martinez opened a lead of 5-3. <br />The script was otherwise of second set. Miele who had to fight to tied at 5-5. Being Miele's first semis, and having the pressure of Lara, who was following sister at the crowd, with her dad, Miele had her serve broken. And no difficultied for Marta Maria close the set and match at 3-6 7-5 7-5. "She did great, I was so nervous. She deserves to go to final and win" said Miele to the press conference. "I don't need to change nothing of my game. Is good the way it is."<br />The next tournament for younger sister of Miele's is in Orange Bowl together with older sister.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/810000/images/_810633_anna300.jpg<br />Barbara Miele contests a ball during her semifinals at Eddie Herr against Spain's Marta Maria Conde Martinez. Miele was defeated by 6-3 5-7 5-7
Marta Maria Conde-Martinez bt Anne Gambill 16 76(3) 62.
Yet again Conde-Martinez came from behind to claim victory - only this time she got the title as well. After breaking Gambill in the firts game of teh match, it all wen down hill, with teh powerful brit breezing through 6-1. IN teh second set, Gambill looked certain to have won her 1st title, breaking at 3-3 with a devasting serve down teh middle. Marta Maria fought back, and used her superior speed to get every ball back. Gambil got frustrated and started to miss balls which coused her to loose the second set 7-3 in teh tiebreak. From here is was all Conde-Martinez as Gambill's head dropped. Marta Maria taking teh match with a beatufil double handed backhand.
2001 Eddie Herr Champion: CONDE-MARTINEZ!!!
Adeva/Messay bt Hingis/Fernandez 63 75
Adeva/Messay calimed their firts title together with a fine victory over wild card pairing Jana Hingis and Zerene Fernandez. After taking the 1sts etcomfortably 6-3, Adeva and MEssay moved up a gear, but Hingis/Fernandez were able to give as good as they got. It took a dody line call to hand Adeva/Messay the break at 5-5. And Meghann served out to 15 to huge cheers from the biased home crowd.
