Venus likes to play against Dani. Venus rarely plays balanced matches, so 7-6 6-1 is my prediction.

Your memory serves you wrong. Venus won their first match at Wimbledon in 2001 in straight sets. You're thinking of 2002 Oz Open 3rd round. Venus was injured and Dani tested her by winning the first, losing the second 6-0, and then having chances in the third.

In eight matches Daniela has won just one set against Venus. Even so, if Venus was is subpar form, one could almost attempt to make a semicoherent argument that Daniela had a chance in this match given her much improved form over the past 12 months. But Venus is not in subpar form. Not even close. Therefore I really can't see anything happening except a routine Venus victory, something like 6-4 6-2.

It is still a few weeks from the US Open but right now Venus is looking the form pick to win it.

Their best match was the 2005 Wimbledon. That 1st set had some great, quality action. From 1st serve percentages to accurate groundstrokes. Venus won that one 7-5, 6-3. I expect this new Venus to remain intact. If so, she wins.

First of all, Venus is not a stick. She has shape and muscles to her frame. Daniella is like Olive Oyle on Popeye.

Even when Venus came back from injury she beat Daniella with ease.

Venus will take it 6-2, 6-2 with ease. Daniella has never beaten Venus and she doesn't trouble Venus.

The 36 people that voted for Daniela, I don't have anything against her but in all honesty why? she's a great player but Venus hits harder, moves waaaay better and is mentally much tougher, unless she gives the match away she wins.

I didn't vote for Daniela but I think what it is is that, when she's playing well, she has consistent groundstrokes, a great serve and the ability to attack the net. She has the raw talent/ability to beat basically anyone on tour. She just doesn't have the guts/nerve/spark/whatever you want to call it and she never really has. Venus could beat her even if she was on crutches.

(And I say this as someone who likes Daniela. Apart from the fact that I've already bet against her, I'd love to see her win this tournament.)

her serve isnt great. its good, not great and with her movement i dont think she could beat anybody on tour even if she is playing her absolute best. she is good player but i dont think she is better in any area other than venus except that she better touch touch at net but venus has better coverage at net.

They have pretty similar coverage at net. I think Daniela's groundstrokes are technically better when she's playing with confidence. She just doesn't do that often. Her movement is not as bad as people make it out to be, although it's clearly not an asset.

Not that any of this makes any difference since she won't play anywhere near her best against Venus.

Id say their best match was their 1st ever encounter at AO 02. The 1st set, Hantuchova played as well as she ever has against Venus, hitting lots of great winners, serving really solidly and moving well. In the 3rd set it was nip and tuck all the way with some fine rallies, but the experience pulled Venus through in the end, although Hantuchova ha many chances in the 3rd. I wonder if they match, had a mental bearing for Hantuchova in the rest of their encounters because she's never gotten another set off Venus

I have a weird feeling about tonight  I hope Venus can get through, if not for me but for the tournaments sake. Venus - Chakvetadze, or Venus - Sharapova would be good for the game ;)

Daniela is also waaaaay to slow to hang with Venus in rallys
