I was looking forward to my first double bagel pick in suicide. Ah well.

Kerber against Dementieva again, should be interesting. Their FO match was pretty good.

There was an interview a few days ago on here where Brittany was saying she knows she is at the same level as these girls.

The Williams sisters, along with 16 other top 20 WTA Tour players, are scheduled to appear when the Acura Classic makes its final appearance at the La Costa Resort and Spa from July 28-Aug. 5.

"Wow is all I could say," said Augustine, a highly-regarded junior player from Carson. "All this hard work and I can finally say, although I am not at the same level as them, I am close to it.

It's amusing how people  @ the giving of these WC's
and yet talk about the lack of young talent!

It's called a learning experience.

You have to let them play to see where they are
and see what still needs to be worked on.

she would have gotten a huge amount of the experience (probably more than she could ahve handled) if she played qualies to begin with.

and as someone said, there were much more deserving Americans for the wc's

heaven forbid a girl believe in herself
even if her level isn't near her talk.

Stay up, keep working, and keep
beliving Brittany!

This is a "process" which will not
happen overnight. Yet, when you are
young you want and believe you can.

you cannot compare Kerber with Augustine ;)

Brittany is 15 years old and nb. 1042 in the ranking

Angelique is 19 years old and nb. 76 in the ranking

Brittany is very young and still able to get better and better

do you really think she herself feels good about this experience? I really doubt it. On the other hand, if she played qualies and won or made it close - it would have been a much much better for her young psychics

If they wanted to give her a chance to get a learning experience, they could have given her a Qualies WC. She isn't ready to play in the main draw of a Tier I.

Maindraw was maybe a bit too much for this girl, but if she is really just 15 we shouldn´t blame her.

they(organizers) just probably bought what her agent told about her... she seemed to believe it too ;)

I agree. Putting a 15 year old in the MD of a tier 1 when they have never played anything/anyone remotely close in class is silly, a qualy wildcard would have been much better for her confidence because she surely would have won at least a few games or a set against some of the players that were in the qualy draw.

well, she, Augustine "opened the door" (as they say in court proceedings) by saying that she is almost at the same level as "other girls"... but agree with you, because she probably just repeated the words of some stupid and greedy agent who only thinks about his/her own pocket
