It's often said that players let the racket do the talking, and Maria Sharapova has on countless occasions subscribed to this philosophy. With a string of embarassing defeats stacking up almost weekly these days, and on the back of that nightmare 6-0 6-0 result to Lindsay just the other year, it's clear that Maria is pretty much letting her racket announce her retirement.

It's likely she'll play on for the rest of the season, but what options are there for Maria for 2008?

Over to you.......

Well, Alex only had a Wimby SF, while Maria is so much more acomplished. She will certainly get it together again, whether it's sooner or later.

She might go to desert island and live with Yuri or she might become a waitress (the official waitress of the WTA) to fill Lena D's position.

Why should Maria's career be ending at 20? Cause she lost a match? 127 of 128 are going to end with a loss.

This is such bullshit. I´m not a fan of Maria at all but recognize a top player when I see one.
Venus and Serena are always going to beat her if they play well because they´re simply better players.
Clay is a surface Ana excels on and is Maria´s worst surface plus Ana was simply on fire during the clay season so no surprise there. Maria is a top player who run into better players but she will definitely win more slams and will stay in the top ten for many years to come.
