I quit being a Mauresmo fan. It's just too much. I was able to handle all her chokes, but I can't take this anymore.

*5:3 in the 1st set. 6:3 in the TB, loses it 6:8.

14 DF!!! Is she Dementieva now?

I've had it. I quit as a Mauresmo fan. I wish her all the best, but from now on I couldn't care less about her.

Nicole played really well - great serving, really solid at the net and some spectacular passing shots.

Amelie.. Well, it just wasn't her day. Only 52% of points won at net. 26/50. That was her downfall. When Nicole took the net away from her, it really destroyed her confidence.

Firsty Congrats to Nicole, since she was 16 I've thought she was something special. Today she showed great fight, composure and I was delighted to see her showing her full range of skills-volleying,slicing etc as well as being a hard hitter. However I'm gutted over Momo  was over the moon when she won Wimbledon, it meant so much to her being Wimbledon Champion! I can't imagine how she must feel... she just wasn't right at all today! to Amelies great fans. To those saying they won't support her anymore-get a grip. I know it must be frustrating (Lindsay Davenport fans went through our fair share of that) but when you support a player it can't be only when she wins.

i'm shocked. I never believed that Mauresmo was over her whole choking thing last year. But I did think that once Mauresmo got on grass she would def. get to the finals. But that last set was just capitulation on her part.

Her play today was tentative and was almost as bad as her performances at RG. :awww:
You could feel the tension throughout the match.
Nicole handle her nerves and weather situation better.
She looked like the experienced veteran today and Amélie did not.
Amélie even forgot her usual grass game tactics. :tape:
This loss is going to hurt bad for her, I'm afraid.

I can't believe that some of her fans are going to stop supporting her now.
How did you manage to be a fan all the years pre-2006 then? :o

Disgusting loss.
I was well aware of their history, but I just did not see Mauresmo losing to Vaidisova at all! It's a shame. I hope she gets herself together to have a nice US summer hardcourt season, but somehow I doubt her form will improve that much. Perhaps after the USO.

I didn't see the match, just the last few games, and it just seemed an error-fest to me. I hope the winner of Ivanovic vs Petrova makes the SF.

Good win for Nicole. Great way for her to regroup and win the first set after trailing by 3 set points (mind you Amelie did help her do that, but still Nicole had to keep her composure to do it).

I am really surprised though that Nicole didn't win this match easier given Mauresmo's inconsistency. But Mauresmo did put her shots in, they just wern't deep or aggressive enough.

Momo
I'm heartbroken for her. I'm sure she's feeling down this time. It's a shame that she lost but it's not the end of the world. Even if she were to retire tomorrow, she's still going to be a two time Grand Slam winner :) Hope she bounce back during hardcourt.

To the haters : :baby:

Oh I feel the same way about Roddick and Sharapova. Only I'm not american. We just get their tv coverage in Canada.

So I think you can understand the relief we all non-momosapiens frenchies can feel:p

What a great win for Nicole. :clap2: She really showed a lot of poise throughout the match, which was in contrast to Amelie, who really crumbled in the third set as evident by her throwing the ball in the stands. This is the type of win that will greatly boost Nicole`s confidence, especially playing on grass.

for me the main reason Mauresmo lost it was because RAIN BREAK!!!!!!!

Amelie controls all matchs until RAIN @ 5-4 when servingo to the 2nd set

After that rain breaks couples maths happens same thing

Jankovic was leading 3-2 @ 3 set and lost 3-6

Mauresmo was leading 5-4 at 2nd set controlling almost everything after lost 1set set( 5*-3 and 5-3 at tie break)

Chakvetze/Azarenka was leading 5-1 @ 3 set and lost 6-8!!!!!!!!!!

that´s the main reason....

well Mauresmo leads 4-2 in the first set before it was raining as well. how could she manage to control the match until SPs?

Honey, you can't imagine how much boring/frustrating is watching every match of your most hated player (Momo) in her homecountry. And the comments.. Dear lord, they're always licking every inch of Momo's arse. It almost makes me throw up.

I'm surprised that so many felt Vaidisova played great because I thought both played way below par and couldn't get any rhythm going at all. Mauresmo was just simply more awful with all her DFs and UEs.

well Mauresmo leads 4-2 in the first set before it was raining as well...

Well wouldn't that argue FOR the rain breaks costing her the match? (although I would put it as "her inability to deal with them" costing her the match....but they did play a role).

Oh well. fspc.

Well done, Nicole! Good luck the rest of the way.

the first rain break didn't cost a thing or she couldn't come back to the match and had 3 SPs at the end. the problem is just Amelie herself. don't blame the rain delays.

that's my point.

After seeing you in Eastbourne I would have never thought you'd get this far.

Mauresmo in the final set was a mess. That final game was just :tape: I would never have expected that from her. I guess maybe she felt the pressure of defending and getting past the 4th round (since she didn't do that in Australia).

I'm so fucking stupid.

http://www.wtaworld.com/showpost.php?p=11113495&postcount=36

Anyways, Nicole was bound to get an opportunity sometime. Far too often she's up against top players when they're playing their best; it was about time she got somebody playing shite for once.

Saw almost all of the first set and some of the second. Mauresmo rarely went for her shots, and that gave Nicole more than enough time to deal with her junk and puffballs. I mean, Nicole managed to retrieve shots that would have whizzed past her had they any pace in them at all. Nicole pulled off some touch shots and other clever stuff I didn't even know she could do. And from what I saw, that probably earned her more points than her usual big serve+big FH game. Loved the decisive SP on the first set TB.
