View Full Version : Does the WTA need a new ranking system ?

At the end of the year the YEC race standings are the same as the Overall ranking. IMO there should be some more distinction between the two. Like the ATP 2 yearly cumulated system.
This would give the possibility to be untouched at the no.1 spot for a longer period , whereas now we have a different no.1 every year.
What do you think ?

Not necessarily. You get ALL of your tournaments added to the race rankings and only your best 17 for the entry ones. Jelena Jankovic will be pleased :hehehe:

But yeah, maybe they should have a bigger distiction. How would that give more chance of someone being number one for a long time though?

Not true for players who play more than 17 tournaments for year.
Jankovic already play 18 tournaments this year. At the end, she won't have the same points in the 2 rankings, and I don't think she will have the same ranking in the 2 rankings. ;)

OK, thanks, I didn't know about that, so her amount of points and ranking will be lower in the overalls right ? because of too many tournies played over the year.

Jankovic will top the race, but not for entry system. period.
