Fedcup
Jul 2nd, 2007, 08:18 AM
rain all day

Showers will develop this morning with a few becoming heavy but there will also be some sunshine. The showers continuing this afternoon, becoming fewer and less heavy this evening

The sunshine spells will be too short to dry up the courts.
So expect no play today, tomorrow etc...

Absolutely. I sincerely hope that they don't finish by Sunday to teach a lesson to a country run by idiots, as shown last week when Gordon Brown said that "Her Majesty, the Queen" :spit: had "asked" him to form a government to replace the retired Tony Blair's.

(The only "asking" that mattered was that of the Labour Party and its MP's not some welfare recipient in Buckingham Palace). So "Great" Britain (and this tournament) can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. (I so hope a winner one year refuses to bow or curtsy to the "royal" box).

True. But isn't it supposed to rain a lot this week? The posters here seem rather short sighted. Lets say it rains heavily on Tuesday and Wednesday? Now it might not, but that isn't the point. Yesterday was a perfect day to play, and they didn't. Not because of Britain's dumb bit about "royalty", but because of the same slavish devotion to tradition that had all players only in white for decades.

You don't get it. As long as the Peppermint Puppet doesn't win, I don't care much who does, as Jen and Chanda aren't playing anymore it seems. So I would indeed prefer that it rain a lot this week and that they finish the tournament late, just to teach them a lesson. (BTW, I hope the winners of Rosmalen and The Rotterdam don't "have to" curtsy and bow to "Queen Beatrix" either).

More than likely there will be no more play today nor tomorrow....The chances of rain in the forecast are 90% all day, so unless that is incorrect there will be no play until wednesday. sad, i know.

they just announced that for the next 3 hours there will be showers with some dry spells which will be brief. when they are confident that they have a dry spell that is long enough for play to resume they will uncover the courts.

could be hours till play gets underway again  :(

That just means there's a 90% chance that it will rain at SOME point...for all we know that's all the rain there'll be. But of course, that's probably 99% not true.
