I don't understand why Stuttgart will be a clay court tournament in 2009. And why they will put the clay into the arena over the hardcourt

Acura Classic:sad:
I am going to miss being able to attend a WTA event every summer. It was better than the rest of the US Open Series(except for US Open) too!

Players will earn pts for the Olympics as if it were a tier II? Cool.

Source please. Because the USTA one still had the event in Rabat and not Fes. Thus, until its released by the WTA, it's very likely to be incorrect.

I have a hard time beliving Tel Aviv will happen next year at all....

The Olympics should be treated like a GS. They should make the points either equivalent to a GS or between a Tier I and a GS.

No more tournaments in Poland? First they got rid of Sopot, now Warsaw, this sucks!

Why Madrid? What is so special about Madrid? If it was so special, why did they get rid of the Tier III tournament that was there?

Larry Scott, I hope you get fired.

Gold Coast is only in "last year" next year because it's moving to brisbane in 09. ;)

4/28/08 - Warsaw (II) LAST YEAR / Estoril (IV)

I doubt the Estoril WTA TIV will be held. The ATP tournament was downgraded and moved to the Valencia/Houston week, effective 2008. So the TIV will either be held that week or not at all.

Last year for Stanford?

Why are all these tournaments ending? Financial reasons? Or is the tour trying to trim down the schedule?

Any changes to the challengers?

Larry Scott is the worst thing ever to happen to the WTA.

Why get rid of any of the current Tier 1's? They are all great events! Especially Zurich:sad: So many great past champions there!

and why on earth upgrade Beijing? That's brand new and has little meaning to the tour right now. Talk about inconvenience to the players. They'll all have to go over to China when they should be preparing for the Indoor season in Europe.

Yeah, it sucks - especially with Zurich, Warsaw and Antwerp going...and Luxembourg. Alot of European tourneys do seem to be going - although it seems to be the American tourneys making more noise about the cuts.

It sucks big time that it will be the last year for some great tournaments, like Zurich, Warsaw or Acura. I also think that making Beijing AND Madrid mandatory is silly, but we just have to wait and see what the future brings.

But really...why Antwerp will be cancelled? Financial problems...It always had packed crowds, great players, great atmosphere....Reason??

I love Acura and Zurich...
Both of them are perfect event.
Acura always considers as the sign of the USOpen.

well for the first time for years (back to the time of antwerp and knokke in '99), there won't be any WTA tournament in Belgium...

I guess our golden years are over :(:(

Acura is not a done deal yet? Then why is it not on the 2008 schedule? It is over.

I just saw the entry list for Acura! 18 out of the top 20 have signed up this year! It draws so many of the top players.

Shame that so many tournaments are going. But Doha leaves its place in Feb to be the YEC which makes sense.

Doesnt the Acura always draw the big players? it seems dumb that it would be cut.... Isnt it one of the tournaments thats considered to be right after the GS's?
