SERENA defeats Milagros Sequera 6-1, 6-0

6.06pm. Serena is wasting not an iota of time on Centre Court. There have been one or two spots of rain, literally, and she doesn’t want to hang around. It must be nearly tea-time. Sequera pocketed just one game in the first set.

Serena is aiming to beat the quickest match time. Yesterday’s record of 49 minutes by Vaidisova is looking vulnerable. Serena’s first set took 22 minutes. She’s now 5-0 up.

6.18pm. And it’s all over. Serena Williams is officially the quickest draw in town. She’s crushed the Venezuelan 6-1, 6-0 in just 43 minutes. She leaves courtside bathed in late evening sunshine and a warm glow.
