Certainly not the best...if she does lose 3rd round I wish she would enter Cincinnati so I could see her!!!

Dinara's draw is insane. She has the 2005 champion in round 3 and the 2004 champion right after.

Dinara has the worst draw of anyone no doubt......just take it one match at a time....if Venus plays like she did today....Dinara can definitely take her out.

I agree if she meets Venus it would be a winnable match and she has beaten Sharapova before, although on grass it might be a different situation! She always seems to get tough draws at the slams though

Safina Stays Focused to Win

Russian 13th seed Dinara Safina saw off a spirited challenge from former Wimbledon junior champion Kateryna Bondarenko to take her place in the second round.

In a gripping match, which ended up much closer than the rankings would have suggested, 20-year-old Ukrainian Bondarenko grafted away but could not make the vital points count and went down 7-5, 7-6 (9-7).

Bondarenko, the 2004 girls' champion, had a lightning start against Safina, sister of Marat and herself a junior finalist here in 2001.

Though she looked worried at 3-1 down, Safina found new levels of focus and broke back in the sixth - setting the scene for a tightly matched and compelling contest.

With Bondarenko serving at 4-5, the determination to steal the serve and the set was visibly etched on Safina’s face. A service return was pinpointed to Bondarenko’s backhand baseline corner for a Safina set point. But Bondarenko was not to be so easily crushed.

In her next service though, Bondarenko’s game was a little more anxious, and though she pulled out some strong first serves, is was not enough to prevent Safina taking the set, after nearly an hour’s play.

The second set became an absorbing encounter between the two big hitters. Bondarenko came out fighting and immediately broke serve. A mammoth service game by Safina in the ninth game set up an unfolding denouement of break and counter break.

The tie-break followed the same pattern. A rare approach to the net resulted in a netted volley by Safina, giving Bondarenko a 5-3 lead. Safina’s timing was temporarily lost as Bondarenko worked herself three set points. But she couldn’t make any of these tell.

Safina needed just one match point to take the tie-break 9-7, and seal victory.

I saw Morigami play Venus, and she played well.
Still, it's Wimbledon, and you have to find a way to win in round 2.
