Gianna Adrianna Dulko is very cautious about facing Monica De la cal in the second round. "Monica is a very talented player. I am 1-2 career against her, with Monica winning the last two matches. This will be a great test of my ability on clay. I hope I can carry my great success that I had on clay this year into this tournament, so I can beat Monica. I am so nervous, but I have practiced really hard and I hope to really play well and give it my best shot." Good luck also to Dulko/Torres and to Regla Torres in singles! :D
Tiffani should overtake Regla in the rankings once again now. Right?

Wow,compared to Regla ,Tanya had like almost no points on clay.
She's ready though to lose again to Anabel Conde  ( I cant seem to get the mental block off these TTT players ;))

Well Monica De la Cal's winning record vs. Gianna Adrianna Dulko has increased yet again. Playing for the first time with Dulko being the higher ranked player, De la cal won the tightly contested match 6-4 1-6 6-4. Here is what Dulko had to say: "Well I entered this tournament as it was on clay, and I did so well this season on clay. SO when I saw the draw, I was quite disappointed, as I knew monica could beat me. This early loss is a big disappointment for me. With this win she has won our last three meetings, so she is 3-1. You know she was the first player I beat who was in the top 20 (at that time). Now that I am the higher ranked player, it was kind of a different story. But it just shows you what kind of depth there is in FWTT. I wish Monica all the best in the rest of the tournament. I hope to do better in doubles! ;) Congrats Monica on your win.

Anabel Conde pulls out injured
Anabel has got injured seriously in her right foot after her quarterfinal match against Sandy Vicario. The spaniard who had reached the semifinals had to play her doubles match tonight but she wont be able to. Anabel, who has been sent to the nearest hospital, will miss her semifinal match tomorrow against Tanya Hingis, and her participation in the Fed Cup next week could have been afected too.
"It's just bad luck. I was playing very weel and i had a great chance to make another final because i have never lost to Tanya. I also feel sorry for my sister who has to pull out fo doubles too"
i didnt want tanya to lose for the 125478 time against anabel ;-)

OMG, what a surprising loss for Dulko/Torres. MONICA DE LA CAL, DO YOU HAVE TO BEAT ME AT EVERYTHING! :p ;) LOL! You beat me in not only SINGLES but DOUBLES TOO! Oh well, De la cal/Spencer are a good team, so Regla this isnt that bad of a loss. Its just the fact that it is so early in the tournament.
hey ALX, do we get QF round points for reaching the quarters with a bye, or do we get 1R points?
Jul 12th, 2002, 03:56 PM

"I am so excited to be in a final in my home country. This is actually really big for me. I rarely play the Tier 3 tournaments anymore. And I have never done too well in the past. The final is very important to me. It would be my 5th title and 3rd this year. Also if I win tomorrow my win loss record would be an even 70-70. I have been working very hard to get back to 50%. And my singles rank may jump to #4. This is a huge match for me. And my last as a single women!!" ~Tiffani Eggert
I never really expected to beat Regla and Tiffani this week
Actually I'd probably be completely freaked out , but now I'm not as freaked out ,coz I've had a lot of project work this week ,and I'm very tired, and am not am excited as I would liked to have been about my 1st title victory!
Gosh I dont believe I finally won a title. I couldnt even win a challenger so far ,so this feels good.
Thank you Regla and Tiffani for great matches ,and thank you Anabel Conde for withdrawing and giving me my 1st title victory!! :D:D
