After playing a shaky first set,
Serena pulled herself together and
played some great tennis. She faces
Virginie Razzano in the next round.
What did you guys think of Rena's
match?

I noticed that, too.
Usually, she has trouble with movement on clay.
But she was excellent today. :worship:

I was impressed with how quickly she improved her game after being broken at the start of the 2nd set.

From the first to the second set, her intensity level really changed. The breaks of serve were disheartening, but the fight she had to even remain in the first set was admirable and classic Serena. Pulling the match together with authority in 2 and 3 was nice.

omg the sliding!!!! at the beginning of the second set she still looked a bit wobbly but afterwards she was just there sliding into shots....great point construction as well in the second and third...she became more patient and that will be key in her other matches ...need I comment on the first :tape: .....although the fight from 5-2 down and wanting to get off the court was great :D

serena was magnificent after the rain delay. with the nerves gone, it seems like she let loose and went for her shots. it's incredibly difficult, almost impossible to slide when one's filled with tension.
i think she knows she can win this tournament, as well as a Grand Slam this year. With four matches under her belt, I think she can take out Justine--perhaps quite easily!

So far, I agree with you people.
She had a flat 1st set, but she
put up a brilliant fight. In the final
2 sets, Rena was in complete control,
dictating rallies, hitting outstanding
winners, and best of all, she was sliding
into her shots and moving very well.

At one point, TTC stats stated that Serena won 56% of the rallies that went over 4+ strokes
