I saw her on the Golf Channel today. They had a nice interview with him last night and he seem to be a nice person. Those commentators on the Golf channel are quite smitten with Miss Vee. The last time she was at the Livermore Valley tournament they were going on and on about her. The commentator last night ask Hank how it feels to be the No 2 celebrity when he is out with Vee. He said when he is in Florida a lot of People knows him, but Venus is the bigger star when they are out now.

does this mean we are going to see venus at a pga tour tournament as a golfer's girlfriend?i have never heard of him winning anything,i hope its not to ride on the courttail of venus' celebrity ,well at least she has someone in her life to cuddle.
her hitting partner has been living a charmed life, from turkey to hitting with champions like serena and venus.he looks relaxed now,i liked the way he was celebrating in australia and in miami with richard.i think he gets along with them very well.

Don't worry about Vee missing her practice. The last time she was with him she was practicing at the club because they have clay courts. Also, I notice Baris her hitting partner is there also.

In his interview he said that he attended one tournament so far. They just started dating in December so Venus has not played that many tournaments yet. Also he said that when they are both off they spend time together but when they are both playing it's difficult to see each other. Being Athletes they both understand the dedication it takes and thus they understand each other more.

Since when supporting one significant other is looked at as something negative. I doubt whether Vee would appreciate the tennis commentators broadcasting her business during her matches.

I’m rarely into writing about players’ personal lives unless there’s a relevance, but something I heard this afternoon on the Torrey Pines practice green is too good not to pass along: Hank Kuehne is dating tennis star Venus Williams. The two recently were seen having dinner together at a posh Florida resort with Kuehne’s toddler."

i'm not saying she would not be able to get a man of another race. the reality is that most white men with money are not trying to get with a black woman who is regular. look at marriage statistics. it doesn't mean black women are not smart and pretty just means that is not what white men in that position are doing mostly. and when they do, she is gonna be foine not some regular black woman.

i say, if v is gonna be with white dudes, why get with white guys who are regular and not special, especially given her position. get with the best you can and she has access to a lot.

given the black men out there - particular the wealthy black male athletes she knows - she can get an above average man period. she just isn't willing to go with someone black and that's too bad.

First of all, Hank is not most white men, he's his own person. The man liked Venus enough to do what he had to do to impress her. He did and he got her. She doesn't have to sit around waiting for a black guy "on her level" to decide he wants to ask her out. They've had plenty of chances, Hank was the one who stepped up and he's the one that deserves to be with her.

i say, if v is gonna be with white dudes, why get with white guys who are regular and not special, especially given her position. get with the best you can and she has access to a lot. Since when does money make a man special or the best? I'm sure Venus (and me for that matter) would rather have a broke man who treats her like a queen than a rich man that beats and cheats on her.

given the black men out there - particular the wealthy black male athletes she knows - she can get an above average man period. she just isn't willing to go with someone black and that's too bad. Venus has never said anything about not liking black guys, you're putting words into her mouth. Furthermore, aren't most of those black male athletes dating white women anyway?

otherwise, get with a regular black guy.

Oh, so now I get it. To you it's ok for her to be with a regular black guy, just not a regular white guy. Got it. So in other words, the only time it's ok for her to be with someone simply because they make her happy is if the guy is black.

touche. that is unfortunate.

i'd rather be miserable with money than miserable and poor.

This person does not know what he is talking about. there are plenty of white men even ones w/ money who date women like Venus. His perception that black women are too ugly for a white man to date particularly a white man w/ money is BS. This is his brother Tripp. He came in second to Tiger woods in the 94 Amateur championships. He still plays on the amateur tour but is a money manager in Texas.

Hmmmmmm....now THIS looks like something freaky happened the night before, look at the body language. The dudes body language screams "yeah I got laid", while Venus' body language screams "how much did I have to drink last night?" :help:

i'm not saying she would not be able to get a man of another race. the reality is that most white men with money are not trying to get with a black woman who is regular. look at marriage statistics. it doesn't mean black women are not smart and pretty just means that is not what white men in that position are doing mostly. and when they do, she is gonna be foine not some regular black woman.

i say, if v is gonna be with white dudes, why get with white guys who are regular and not special, especially given her position. get with the best you can and she has access to a lot.

given the black men out there - particular the wealthy black male athletes she knows - she can get an above average man period. she just isn't willing to go with someone black and that's too bad.

she seems more willing to get with a so-so white guy than and outstanding black man.

This post is so irritating I don't even know where to begin.
Sometimes black men just disappoint black women, especially the women with power and status. Venus is Venus, and if he's good enough for her, then that's all that matters.

Kuehne returns to familiar place

Hank Kuehne and girlfriend Venus Williams get a lift back to the clubhouse.

After turbulent 2006, he's happy to be back on the PGA Tour

By BRAD TOWNSEND and TODD ARCHER / The Dallas Morning News
btownsend@dallasnews.com and tarcher@dallasnews.com

IRVING – Hank Kuehne says golf has been his haven throughout his often-tumultuous 31-year life.

Thursday, he returned from a long absence – to his haven as well as his hometown.

Playing his first PGA Tour round in 13 months, the Dallas native and 1998 U.S. Amateur champion shot a 4-over-par 74 on the Cottonwood Valley course on the first day of the EDS Byron Nelson Championship.

"It's always nice to be back out playing and doing what I wanted to do since I was a kid," he said. "It's always nice to be a kid again. I wish it had gone a little better, but I played solid golf for a lot of holes."

Even while shooting 1-under through 11 holes, Kuehne was somewhat upstaged by the fourth-hole arrival of his girlfriend – tennis star Venus Williams.

She wore a tan hat, brown sweater, jeans, carried a very large gold purse and walked with Kuehne's family members and friends.

"It's always nice to have people close to you out here," said Kuehne, adding that he has been to one of Williams' tournaments. "We're just trying to figure it out and support each other when we can."

Once again, Kuehne is turning more heads with his personal life than his play, but he hopes to change that in the coming months.

He is coming off a nightmarish 2006 that included hip surgery, a messy divorce and a bitter custody battle over his infant son, Henry III. He was physically unable to swing a club for seven months, but fortunately he found a new haven.

"Obviously, going through divorce is not fun," Kuehne said. "Not being able to do what you love to do is not fun. The only part of it that was really enjoyable was being able to raise my son."

Kuehne grew up in Dallas' and one of the country's most prominent golf families. Sister Kelli won two U.S. Women's Amateur titles and brother Trip lost to Tiger Woods in the 1994 U.S. Amateur final.

At 6-2, 205 pounds, middle sibling Hank was the most powerful and arguably most talented Kuehne, but as a child he struggled with a learning disability and during his college years he battled alcoholism.

His pro career began promisingly. He had two second-place finishes, eight top-10s and unseated John Daly as the tour's longest driver in 2003 and 2004. But shoulder, then back injuries took a toll.

When news outlets reported that he was served divorce papers during last February's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, eyebrows again were raised. Henry III was only five months old.

"My home life is my home life and golf is golf," he said. "Unfortunately, everybody thinks it's an interesting story to write about my non-golf life.

"Maybe I've gone through things, through being sober, through the issues I've had, maybe it's not like everybody else. But I'm a golfer. It's what I do."

But then, soon after shooting 80-80 in last March's Players Championship, he lost golf, too. Long-frustrated by what had been diagnosed as back problems, he flew to Ohio to be examined by orthopedic surgeon Viktor Krebs of The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Within moments of looking at Kuehne's MRI results, he determined that Kuehne had a torn labrum and cartilage damage in his left hip. Prior to the surgery, Kuehne spent months lying on the couch and caring for his son after getting 50-50 custody.

He also lost 30 pounds, while going six months refusing to even watch televised golf.

Since the surgery, he has regained most of his weight, muscle and confidence. And, in case anyone is asking, he says he has maintained his sobriety since Feb. 3, 1995.

He says he would move back to Dallas if he had full custody of his son, but he remains in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., because his ex-wife lives nearby. Does he ever think back to his '98 U.S. Amateur title and wonder what became of his career?

"No," he said. "I deal with the hand I'm dealt. I deal with what's right in front of me. My life, all the issues I've had, I take it one day at a time.

"Everything's an experience. If you get knocked down and get back up, you'll be all right. If you're not better off than you were before, at least you learned something."

what you call as not being shallow some would call a 'mommy complex', ie a woman thinks she can fix/help the man be a better person.

What's wrong with interracial romance? Who cares if she prefers white guys?

I think that's the problem, just because someone is dating someone outside of their race doesn't mean they don't prefer their own race. Some people really don't even have a preference, they just date who ever they like simply because they like them.

So, every woman that gets involved with a man

And every man(and woman for that matter) who has had
an substance issue is somehow unworthy of being loved?

Frankly, you need to take a step back. One I didn't say every and all or even Venus has a mommy complex. I said some women. That is is the truth. Don't believe me go to an Alanon meeting and you will see plenty of them. I don't know what issues you have in life but don't project them on me. No where in my post did I say or imply that someone who is in recovering doesn't deserved to be loved. Hell, people in recovery are not even encouraged to go on a date for a minimum of a year. I guess they don't think people in recovery deserve love to?

Two, I know exactly what it's like to live with be in love with a recovering addict/alcoholic and if you think 2 years of sobriety isn't still a iffy period...you're wrong.

You think people are judgemental which we can be but fyi so are you and you like to get on your high horse.

Like I said I don't know of anyone who would hear that their loved one is getting into a relationship with an alcoholic and think, "wonderful".

I think you find a lot of enablers in Alanon. You don't have to be an enabler if you're in a relationship with a recovering addict and it's not necessarily true that you want to fix that person. You want that person to get better, but you know there's nothing you can do to help them. They have to want to help themselves.

Lastly, Venus doesn't seem to me to be the type of person who cares what her friends and family think of who she's in a relationship with. Really, it's none of their business because they don't know what's between them. The role of friends and family is not to judge or give their stamp of approval, but to support and love no matter what.

I never said all the women in alanon are enablers....almost all are when they start but after following the program alot of them aren't. However, I didn't said all women are enablers or have mommy complexes just that some people can look at a female and think she's not shallow when in reality she has a need to fix her man, a need for drama, or just a self-destructive need. Is that Venus? I doubt it but none of us knows the Venus who is in an intimate relationship.

Please, what family is that? Name a family who do voice their opinions if they have reservations? Also, stating your opinion, stating reservations is not the same thing as judging. Saying someone's initial reaction to finding out their loved one is involved with a recently recovered alcoholic is shallow because they are not doing backflips about it is ridiculous. If we can say he's cute, he looks nice, Oh how great I bet he's really nice to her.....we can say, "Oh no, he's a recovering addict"....because they are based on the same exact things our superalitives are.......our opinion.

No, I didn't say you said that. I made the statement that most of the women in Alanon are enablers, who are seeking help, which is a great thing. Also, I never said you said that all women are enablers or have mommy complexes who are relationships with recovering addicts. I made the statement that not all are enablers, that some realize the situation they are in and know that the best help for a person like that is letting them come to the realization that they need to seek help and being there to support them in their efforts.

The need to fix her man, the need for drama, or being self-destructive shouldn't be pigeon-holed to women in relationships with recovering addicts. These traits are not unique to women in relationships with recovering addicts. I've seen women with these problems in relationships with good guys, normal guys with really nothing to fix, no discernable drama in their life and nothing in their lives that would bring a woman down. My point is that a woman with these problems is going to have these problems whether she is in a relationship with a recovering addict or the king of England.

Please, what family is that? Name a family who do voice their opinions if they have reservations? Also, stating your opinion, stating reservations is not the same thing as judging. That may be true, but what good does it do to state your "opinion". Whether you have reservations or not, doesn't matter if that woman is of age to do what she wants. What it does is alienate her from the family who have these opinions about the person she loves. It's not going to make her leave him. And, stating your opinions or reservations about someone you really don't know based on an initial reaction is judging. Saying he's cute and looks nice is an observation of an outward appearance. Saying "Oh no, he's a recovering addict" is a judgment of recovering addicts being something bad. Being happy and praising God that this person is recovering and trying to stay well, is being more positive. Unless you've walked in that person's shoes, you don't know what they've been through or what caused them to walk down that self-destructive path, so who is anyone to judge them for how they chose to deal with whatever it is. What they need is support, praise and encouragement for getting the help they need. Not judgment.

no the last statement is not true at all...people who thrive off of drama and are self-destructive attracts those that fill those needs. So if they are with the King of England it's because he fills those certain needs. An enabler does not find themselves hooked up with a man who doesn't allow them to engage in enabling behavior because they get nothing out of it.

Also, I'm talking about women because the discussion started with Venus and she's a woman.

That may be true, but what good does it do to state your "opinion". Whether you have reservations or not, doesn't matter if that woman is of age to do what she wants.

It's does the same good as saying, "hey he's cute." or "They look good together". which is allows a person to express there opinion. As long as people are respectfully expressing their opinion people have a right to give their opinion. It's not like we are talking about someone who constantly harps on Venus or doesn't like Venus or has already said it 50 times.

What it does is alienate her from the family who have these opinions about the person she loves. It's not going to make her leave him. Oh no he's a recovering addict, is an expression that says you think it's bad that he's a recovering addict. I've yet to meet a recovering addict who didn't think being an addict was a bad thing. If he was republican, I would've thought "oh No he's a republican." Why? Because I think being a republican is a bad thing. Personal opinion.

I don't have to walk in an addicts shoes to know being an addict is a bad thing. Does that equate to he's a bad person? No, those are clearly your judgements.

and the rest of it....We don't know anything about their relationship to talk about the rest. Oh and support does not mean biting your tongue and never giving your true feelings to a loved one. An enabler does not find themselves hooked up with a man who doesn't allow them to engage in enabling behavior because they get nothing out of it.

My point exactly. My last statement is true, because the King of England or any man can be one who fills those self-destructive needs of some women. My point is, is that a woman may not have all of these issues and still find herself in a relationship with a recovering addict and can handle it without trying to fix the man or enable him, if he's willing to work on it himself. There's some drama in every relationship, which is why relationships are so hard and have to be worked on by both people. If a recovering addict is committed to the relationship and works on his addiction and building the relationship, it can be overcome. It's not hopeless.

Yes, you have a right to your opinion, but you have to be careful how your friend or family member takes that opinion and whether that opinion that you feel so desperately needs to be expressed will alienate you from your friend or family member. Is it worth it?

Oh no he's a recovering addict, is an expression that says you think it's bad that he's a recovering addict. I've yet to meet a recovering addict who didn't think being an addict was a bad thing. No, those are not my judgments. Clearly, I don't think it's bad to be a recovering addict, nor do I think being a recovering addict makes that person a bad person. I think being an addict is bad, but if you're in recovery, that's a good thing.

and the rest of it....We don't know anything about their relationship to talk about the rest. Oh and support does not mean biting your tongue and never giving your true feelings to a loved one. Giving support is letting them know exactly how you feel but loving them anyway if they choose not to take your advice.

No, giving support is only giving advice if it's asked, because you don't know what goes on behind closed doors. We can only see what's happening from the outside. Giving support is allowing a person to make their own decisions for their life and not interfering by injecting your perspective of the way things are going in their life, and loving them even if their decisions are not what we think are wise for them. Because, what if you advise someone on something based on what you think is a wise decision, they follow it and it's not the right thing for them to do. What happens is they end up blaming you and resenting the fact that you interfered. I'm not saying don't give advice or your opinion if someone asks for it, because they are looking for options. But, if you volunteer opinions and advice to someone who is not asking for it, it could result in alienation.

Like I said I don't know of anyone who would hear that their loved one is getting into a relationship with an alcoholic and think, "wonderful".[/QUOTE]
