BTW ITF should ban this girl from professional tournament.
the way she treats her opponents by giving up in the last minutes is classless.

In her defense, this is the first time Alex has retired in a match since last October. Her infamous streak of retirements ran its course last year.

Till now ...

Very pathetic Alex!

I can understand being embarrassed losing to an unknown player, but retiring 5-3 in the final set is very poor sportsmanship unless something was really wrong like when Golovin retired against Sharapova Miami 06, but i highly doubt it.

Get your shit together Alex. Wait till the grass season or something.

Unknown to you perhaps, but here in the Bay Area, Sasha Podkolzina is well-known to tennis fans. To be perfectly honest, she should have beaten Alex Stevenson in straights.

what a fucking joke that she couldnt even play the last game. that is just lame. the only decent excuse would have been like a broken leg or a heart attack and i'm pretty certain she suffered from neither

CoryAnnAvants#1

Alex has never been good on clay. Ever. Even when she was a top 20 player. I don't understand why she's even bothering to play the clay court challengers.

She needs to take the rest of the clay season off and play the American 10K's in May. Start from the bottom. She may as well because challenger qualifying is only a step or two below from completely starting over.

Yes, she is ranked in the mid 300s. So she gets a seed in the qualifying draw of a 50K :bounce:
