Congrats to the "Windy City" of Chicago on winning the 2016 US Olympic bid over Los Angeles!:bigclap: :aparty: :rocker2::woohoo:If there was ever a city that's more deserving the selection, it had to be Chicago.:yeah::hatoff: It would be REALLY cool if they win the international bid over Madrid, Tokyo, etc. because it's only a 40-45 minute drive for me!:drive: That means, I may be able to see an Olympic event in person in my lifetime. Good luck Chicago! Hopefully you'll win the exclusive rights to host the 2016 Summer Olympics over the International competition.;)

The USA has hosted many times yes, but the country is very large. Atlanta was the South, LA is the West, Chicago would be the Midwest, etc.

Part of me wants Rio to win.

oh man I would be so excited if we got the olympics here.

Look at how North America, Western Europe, Australia and East Asia have monopolized the Summer Olympics. There has to be at least ONE country in the grey area that can host one and if Rio can pull it off, then I hope they get it, that would be a trip! One of those rich petrodollar autocracies should try for one of these, they can afford it and it would be good propoganda ..hear me Hugo??

give Asians a chance!

I dont see Chicago winning since Vancouver has 2010, they like to try to change up the continents. Also, I don't see Tokyo winning because Beijing has 2008. My guess is Rio.

Apr 15th, 2007, 07:37 AM
best of luck to you.

What about Prague?

I like Chicago a lot. I wouldn't mind if the Olympics were held there, but maybe next time. I agree with those who say that Rio should win.

I really think some of you can't read, Chicago didn't win the olympic bid, they won the right to send a bid in for the US. If you want places in Africa to get a bid you go there and set the thing up yourself.

Apparently Cape Town, South Africa is looking for the main african bid.

What about Prague?
They can't host twice in same continent in 2 straight Olympic Games. It's their rules.

Apr 15th, 2007, 04:56 PM
I don't think Africa can pull it off right now. Not even South Africa. We'll see how the World Cup goes first.

Apr 15th, 2007, 10:45 PM
I thought Prague was more like central or eastern Europe whereas London is western europe

America   pathetic why not Tunisia or some African country

Because none of them have the money or infrastructure to handle it?

(Except *maybe* South Africa.)
