For Maria, I would have to say vs Justine Henin in the USO Final, or vs Venus in the semis of Miami 05.

Best play (quality of hte game) or best result you mean?

Quality of game. So it may be against a really easy opponent but I'm looking for the best match they played in terms of good tennis.

The best match I seen Lindsay play was the 99 Wimby final. She was so so good that day against a very determined Steffi.

She had 2 BP's and converted both, and faced 2 BP's saving both.

For someone who was never confident on grass, and had never been past the Quarter's it was some performance.

Yeah, she maintained a very high level of play throughout the match, and served so well :worship:

She was also amazing until she went up 6-1 5-1 against Hingis in the 2000 Australian Open final...then the wheels came off a bit

Jennifer Capriati deafeating Martina Hingis 6-4 6-3 : clinical performance. Great serving, great court coverage and great controlled aggresion by a PEAK Capriati. She did everything just great, and went in as the underdog, a champion spurned and a long shot to win a slam at 24. Jennifer left that day with her very first grand slam championship title, she left a champion crowned, a legend made and a fighter born. JUST AMAZING.

Capriati DEFEATED Mary Pierce 6-0 6-0: that was a bit of a shocker, but its still quite impresive as Mary is a grand slam Champion in her own right and a very talented player. Granted she was playing at perhaps half her ability, but still, a champion still and Capriati played superb to double bagel Mary.

Venus played really well against Sharapova at Wimbledon '05 and no one could really touch her at most of the summer tournaments in '00 and '01.

Serena played really well against Sharapova in Australia this yr, a couple matches from '02 and she played really well Wimbledon '00 until the Semis

Anna played extremely well at Miami in '98 also played well in wins over Hingis, Graf, Seles, and Davenport.

To me the best match of Nastya has to be her win against JHH at Leipzig 2003! the score was 3/6-6/3-6/3

Incredible performance!
The commentators were in shock during the last 2 sets

I think Svetlana's performances in last year's semifinal and final in Miami against Mauresmo and Sharapova is as good as she has played so far in her career.

Mauresmo's victory in the 05 Tour Championships against Mary Pierce is probably my favourite Amelie match.

Going back a few years I loved how Seles wanted to impose herself on the young Dementieva in the semifinals of the Masters in New York in 2000.

Lindsay at Wimbledon 1999 finals was amazing. She stayed so calm under the pressure and served brillantly.

The Australian Open final in 2000 from 6-1, 5-1 was fantastic as well.

Also I felt that, minus the little blip in the second set, Lindsay defeating Kim in the fourth round of Wimbledon 2005 was a great performance by her. Her forehand was on that day!

My fav is Chrissie Evert. The "best" match I ever saw her play - she unfortunately lost (on a controversial call). But what a fight! It was the 1988 Wimbledon semi finals against Martina Navratilova. Both women were going for winners. Martina was doing roll over flips to get shots! Unbelievable from both girls.

Neither wanted to give up. Even match point was controversial. But WHAT a match! Even if Chris lost.

It was a remarkable match really. After what had happened a few weeks before at Roland Garros I thought that Lindsay may come out swinging a bit more, especially considering grass suited her better. But she played amazingly. She constructed great points, served well, and probably moved the best I have ever seen. :worship:

I was so happy that day. :D

Actually Hingis was barely trying. She was purposely returning shots that would have landed out, as if she pitied her opponent.

Dementieva def. Clijsters Filderstadt 05 63,36,62..well, the surface suited Lena on that day perfectly. As you know,it`s extremely fast..and when you have such a day that everything you hit..no matter how strong falls on lines and into corners+the serve is solid..then it`s an incredible performance.
If Lena always played like on that day, she would already have many GS titles and No.1 ranking.
I really recommend you to see the match

Other favorites include Hingis' 6-2 6-2 clay-court crushing of Serena (8years ago, 1999 Italian Open), her 6-1 6-1 embarrassment of Venus (6 years ago, AO 01 SF) (although not Hingis' best, it was close enough) and her throttling of Sharapova last year :)

Agree, add to that that the Australian Open 2001 (6 years ago) QF match between Hingis and Serena: 6-2 3-6 8-6, that was awesome tennis; and Hingis win over Seles in the Championship of 2000 (7 years ago): 6-7(5) 6-4 6-4. And her win against nadia Petrova at the Championships, who the commentators said was the only non-injured fresh player in the Championships just having defeated Amelie in straight sets :) Lol too bad my fave didn't play from 2003-2005 or I'd have so much more to write :)

Well, I agree. Lena played well, but Martina was simply better. I`m talking about the first set, because I only saw that one. But, you know, when people see 6-3, it doesn`t say nothing. But in that set there were some  rallies. Martina played very intelligent tennis sometimes. Really a smart play from her.
