The WTA tour Singles Rankings needs to get in Sync

It never reflects reality

They should use the Race rankings. It tells who is doing what now

not 17 tournaments ago.

The rankings should begin at the beginning of the season until

the end of the season like most other sports.

thanks for the summary :worship: that gives an overall view ;)

just a small detail : except for the 4 grand slams, it's better and more "speaking" if there are also the names of the cities (between brackets) beside the name of each tournament (as it's for Bausch And Lomb Championships)

Toray Pan Pacific Open (Tokyo) - Martina Hingis
Pacific Life Open (Indian Wells) - Daniela Hantuchova
Sony Ericsson Open (Miami) - Serena Williams
Medibank International (Sydney) - Kim Clijsters
Open Gaz De France (Paris) - Nadia Petrova
Proximus Diamond Games (Antwerp) - Amelie Mauresmo

Looks good to me =) I see Serena's name in that number 1 spot everywhere except on the rankings.. lol all those other names are in for it come the end of the year, cause some people are about to be moved out =)

the end of the season like most other sports.

The race ranking is also greatly flawed because there is a disparity between the number of tournaments you play. I mean Jelena is #2 in the race because she already played 10 tournies while Serena only played 4. That is why I'm very puzzled why a new method was necessary to determine the YEC qualifiers and not the actual rankings.

It would be more logical to me if they still use your best 16/17 results to also calculate the top 8 in order to avoid the inflated points when some play 25 and over tournies.

they should do like golf and use the last two years but with more weight on the current year. a combination of race and last year, but maybe like 60-40.

dont like the idea of just using race, because players who dont start right away or miss the first slam are hurt way too severe in the rankings. then they might not qualify for tornaments and or they have to play qualies... more harm than good.

i disagree

and about the YEC.... its good like this. because in the yec there should be the 8 players that achieved the most and worked the most at the same time.
