View Full Version : Similarities of 2005 & 2007

Apr 6th, 2007, 03:05 AM
2005 and 2007 are looking so similar, I just wanted to point some stuff out and hope that others could comment on others I missed.

1. Serena winning the Australian Open.
2. Serena beating Maria Sharapova at the Australian Open.
3. The Australian Open Final blowout. (2005: 6-0 third set; 2007: 6-1 6-2)
4. Justine missing the Australian Open.
5. Venus losing early('05)/not playing('07) AusOpen.
6. Sharapova beating Venus in Miami.
7. Venus & Golovin playing only for the second time and once again on the green clay courts.

I know there's more so name them if you wish. I just thought it was interesting. I hope, for Venus & Serena's case, that this year turns out better than 2005. It already has; Serena winning Miami. :D

Yeah, I know this year is going to be better than 2005 for the williams sisters
But it's going to be better for Serena

Venus will surprise us as she did in Wimbledon 2005 but I don't know in wich Grand Slam, I hope in the French Open because I really want to see her winning it at last.

But the big diffrence is that Venus and Serena will not have any injury in 2007, I really believe that

I wish her always Good Luck and always pray for them all the nights.

Hope they dominate this year like they did in 2003

I think the similarities you mentioned...but I think the major difference this season is that Serena and/or Venus didn't get injured so far for the year...they are really protecting themselves this season so as to avoid repeating the past 2 seasons....o0o0o another similarity would be a major Serena jump up the rankings.....

AO 05: Serena jumped from 8 to 2 (fastest jump from someone outside the top 2 to inside the top 2)
AO 07: Serena jumped from 81 to 15

I hope it's like '05 for the sake of some of my favorites careers. :tape: :help:

5. Venus losing early('05)/not playing('07) AusOpen.

She made the 2nd week

And she did better in '05 than in '04 and '06 combined

True. But I still feel like the 4th round is early, for Venus.

However, I like better to see Lindsay happy and pregnant than to watch her lose again 9-7 in the third to Venus :sobbing:

i thought that 02 and 07 have been really close so far, those are the two years everyone has been talking about previously

Justine wins RG.
Another RG blowout final.
Venus loses in the 3rd round of RG.
Sharapova makes the second week of RG.
Serena loses in the second round (withdraw) of a clay court tournament (i.e. Charleston '07; Rome '05)
Amelie loses early at RG... oh wait that always happens. :tape:

Any more?

Ana makes the later stages of a Slam again (RG '05 was the only other time she made a Slam QF).

Mary Pierce appears on court for a French Open final.

No Kim winning US Open unfortunately :(

Jun 9th, 2007, 03:23 PM
Since there's no Kim to win the USO it means Justine will win another slam this year. But I guess Venus would rather make three of each in her trophy room, so I think she'll win the USO and Justine will have Wimbledon. Sharapova and Ivanovic/Jankovic will battle out for the YEC! Hey, that works for me.
