The decision which is got in Miami by WTA is to decrease WTA tournaments from 64 to 53. Tier 1, 2, 3 , 4 will be divided into A and B category. I dont know which tournaments will be cancelled. Just know Istanbul Cup will be in B ( which is worth $ 600,000) category. This will be implemented in 2009.

so it will be:
slams
crown jewel events (the ones you have to play)
category A
category B

anyone know how many points will be given and what the new divisor will be for the rankings?

We have two long years of complaining, changes, and bullshitting awaiting us. Ranking points won't be heard of for a while.

$600,000 for B-level??? I thought the WTA was going to make sure the top players are basically restricted to the A-level and the B plus-level events, so what sponsor is going to pay $600,000 for an event that's going to attract maybe one star at most, if that??? I don't see yet how it's going to work.
