So I'm bored studying for a test and did some quick calculator punching for these stats.

The active list consists of all grand slam winners and I picked a few from the retired group for comparison. :)
Serena before her Miami win was at basically 30% People usually think of JCap for this kind of ratio, but Serena has her beat by about 7%...
As we all know Lindsay underachieved so much at the majors and came in at 5.88%, and Kim at 2.94%...

Player (GS wins/tour titles = percentage)

Active...

Serena Williams (8/28 = 28.57%)
Jennifer Capriati (3/14 = 21.43%)
Justine Henin (5/31 = 16.13%)
Venus Williams (5/34 = 14.71%)
Maria Sharapova (2/15 = 13.33%)
Svetlana Kuznetsova (1/8 = 12.5%)
Martina Hingis (5/43 = 11.63%)
Mary Pierce (2/18 = 11.11%)
Anastasia Myskina (1/10 = 10%)
Amelie Mauresmo (2/24 = 8.33%)
Kim Clijsters (1/34 = 2.94%)

Retired...

Steffi Graf (22/107 = 20.56%)
Monica Seles (9/53 = 16.98%)
Aranxta Sanchez-Vicario (4/29 = 13.79%)
Chris Evert (18/154 = 11.69%)
Martina Navratilova (18/168 = 10.71%)
Evonne Goolagong-Cawley (7/68 = 10.29%)
Lindsay Davenport (3/51 = 5.88%)

Interesting Stat! No surprise about Davenport - I also thought Serena would be way up there.

These percentages are quite confusing. Are you suggesting that Kuznetsova's 12.5% is better than Navratilova's 10.71%? These stats are punishing those players who have won a lot of regular titles :o

Not necessarily, I think if you see this chart as something similar to a breakpoint converted/encountered statistics, it would become more clear. For example, you could have 1 bp converted in 3 tries (33% - 1/3) or 2 bp converted in 6 tries (still 33 % but 2/6). But clearly the later shows a better stat.

Not at all.;) Just a chart showing who wins "only" the biggies versus who wins a lot period.

Nav is still the greatest player. :worship:

So what would be an ideal percentage? Not too low (underperformer at slams) but also not too high obviously (only winning slams/ a slam)

Oh and maybe a GS wins/total wins percentage should have been better. Now it's not reallyt a percentage (can be higher than 100%) :p
