As I expected, most people are either too hopeful or stupidly giggling at the thread.

I think Caroline will put a great fight, better than the 5 games back to when she played way worse than she does now, but it won't be enough to beat a Top 10'er.
And she's not the kind to shake. She's faced top players before.

Caroline is a very promising player, but Hingis tends to be able to handle the young guns pretty well. I'd be shocked if Caroline won, but I think she'll put up a fight.

Hmmm when I saw her playing, Caroline didn't strike me as the overpowering type. So I doubt "overpower" is the word. But in any case, Martina will be overexperienced for Caroline imo.

so much for your manhandling prediction during the Australian Open 4th round against Na. Thanks, you might have jinxed her.

Hingis 6/3 6/4 if not 5/7 6/3 6/4

Against players who are seemingly better, Hingis seems like she usually use the first set to gauge her opponent's performance and weakness. So Hingis most of the time looses tight first sets.

As much as Caroline has great credentials as a junior and a rising star on the tour, experience really does count. Hingis is always such a barrier for these young girls early on, because she relies on her superior experience to guide her through, and exposes the lack of it from her opponent.

Are you serious? If Martina were to commit to doubles full-time (and probably give up on singles, too...) she'd be the #1, probably easily.

I don't think they'd make a great match, though. Typically, the "touch" players do better with a big serve, big forehand partner (Sugiyama and most of her partners, Raymond and most of her partners, etc.) or at least someone who can be counted on to hold serve each time. I was surprised the Kournikova partnership worked as well as it did. Lucic was clearly a more logical fit.

Oh, just let it go Derek. So many people on this board can't stand the attention a pretty newcomer gets and they very much like to insult the player and her fans. You better ignore them because there are many more to come! And I would take it as a compliment that Hingis' fans want Martina to play doubles with Caroline!

Of course, Caroline hasn't established anything yet, but she's well on her way to the top-100, which is great considering she will only turn 17 in four months time. We will hear from her in years to come.
