View Full Version : Who's the future of German tennis?

Mar 6th, 2007, 07:44 PM
It looks like more and more German girls are improving quite quickly on the tour.

There are the ones who are regular top 100 (Schruff, add Kloesel), top 50 (Muller) and top 30 (Groenefeld) players.

But also a lot of newcomers: Tatjana Malek, Angelique Kerber, Julia Goerges, Sabine Lisicki, Andrea Petkovic, Carmen Klaschka, and also newcomers that aren't that young like Kristina Barrois.

So who will carry the German flag in Grand Slams later rounds, at the Olympics in the future?
Choose now :)

Yes, but she's probably going to retire in a few years, and I don't think she's the one we'll hear the most about in the years to come, too ;)

you forgot the biggest newcomer JULIA GÖRGES!!!

Mar 6th, 2007, 07:51 PM
Uhm, excuse me? 2nd in the poll choices :p

But I forgot Anna Lena in the poll :haha:

Who knows - all I can say is that predicting the future of young German players is very difficult, and I have given up on it. :o

Steffi Graf's daughter

I almost hope she does not start playing. The expectations are gonna be enormous.

Being my usual shallow self, I voted for the beautifull Goerges.

Still think ALG is the biggest hope if she gets fit again.

Mar 6th, 2007, 10:26 PM
Groenefeld, if she's fit soon? :D

I discovered Goerges last week, she seems to play well, so why not her? Rather than Muller or Malek...

Eva Braun was in with a chance if she hadn't topped herself.

I thought Sabine awhile ago, but she's been quite a disappointment in the past year or so. :(

ALG after her comeback at Shtuttgart 07.

Angie followed by Tadde. Seen them both and love them both. :)

Kerber, Goerges and Petkovic. I don't think Malek can come that far. But ALG still has the best chances IMO.

Kloesel could have done more, but is now too old to still achieve great things.

i case of talent i would say:

1. Lisicki
2. Petkovic
3. Kerber
4. Goerges

Angelique has been so impressive this year in challengers. I've heard great things about her too.

Lisicki is too hit or miss right now.
