Great service from Tati yesterday .
3 Aces, 72% 1st serve in and won 81% of it. Only faced ONE bp during the whole match. :woohoo:

From someone who watched the match :

Stosur had great serves, but she was sooooo erratic in her strokes.
Her mental was so weak during this game. After the a few points in the second, she almost gave up.

Golovin had a weird service form, but very effective service points and her ground strokes were not that strong, but very accurate. I was impressed.
Her dress made her look like a princess somewhere.

I'm very nervous with her next match against Nadya. She did lead the H2H but their matches have always been close and at least involved a TB and we all know what's Tati's TB record. :tape:.

Yay. Tati had 4 aces yesterday which was shocking. I'm glad she finally got her serve back. She really needs it! Great win. Didn't expect it to be that easy granted Nadya retired in the end. But still, it should boast her confidence up now!

Urgh. I would have been more happier if she were to face Ivanovic and gets her revenge. LOL but well, she is given an easier task to reach SF now. Please do not screw it up. Sybille is a good player but Tati beat her before last year 3 & 1. No reason to lose, Tati :fiery:

Rank wise, she still stays #19 since #16 Peer, #17 Li, #18 Dani and #20 Bepa all won today .

Interview in LEQUIPE

if looking at the bright side of things, Bammer beat Serena at Hobart in the quarters. and then in her next tournment Serena won.

so hopefully things in miami will go better for Tati this year, and better than last year too.

i didn't watch this match but i get the feeling that bammer pounded tati on the backhand side. and only winning 1 point on bammer's 1st serve, come on! :(

but overall, not a bad tournament and i'm glad tati was able to get QF points with two tough tournaments coming up.

Iceland
Mar 16th, 2007, 10:46 AM
It was not Tati who was playing, it can't be ! Everything was wrong ... She didn't use her opportunities, she always finished points who could have been winners by a stupid error. She was so tense trying to feel better on court, but Bammer was getting everything back with a lot of variety. She is playing well indeed, but this is not her who defeated Tati, it's clearly she and her nerves.

Tati in an ITV, said she had been feeling bad (sick?) since the beginning of the morning. I hope she will forget quickly this match because she needs to do well in Miami. I don't want to see her out of the top 20 once again. However, I'm quite worried about the consequences of this loss on her confidence ... She clearly showed that once more, she cannot take the title and her game was in total state of decay.
Please Tati, do better in Miami :)

full interview:

Q. Got off to kind of a slow start. You only won two of the first 10 points. Do you really feel ready to play?

TATIANA GOLOVIN: Do I feel that I was what, ready to play?

Q. Why, yes, you started so shakily that I'm just wondering.

TATIANA GOLOVIN: I was ready to play. I just, you know -- I just took a day off today. I don't know. I'm not really even sure what to say. Just nothing was going in and I'm just kind of -- the type of matches you just want to forget and move on. My aim is next week -- we're lucky with the sport, we have tournaments every week, so we can catch up.
I was trying, I don't -- I mean, I'm trying to be, like, upset at myself, but it's so hard 'cause it's like nothing was going in. So, like I said, just the match that I need to forget and move on as soon as possible.

Q. How much of it had to do with her, if anything?

TATIANA GOLOVIN: Of course, I mean, she didn't make it easy either. She definitely had trouble with her serve. She was -- you know, she was playing pretty aggressively. Normally she is a player to defend -- I was actually the one defending and making mistakes. I think it was me not playing well at all and her just really sticking to her game and putting pressure on me.

Q. Do you have a special respect for her as a player because she's out here with a 5-year-old kid and making kind of a run here?

TATIANA GOLOVIN: I mean, that's kind of her choice, I guess, but definitely it must be really, really tough for her. And, you know, definitely you have respect for someone who can, you know, manage both being a professional tennis player and being a mother, so it can't be very easy.

Q. Do girls talk about that in the locker room?

TATIANA GOLOVIN: Not really. We see the little one running around and screaming in the locker, so it's...

Q. Anybody say, "Get that kid out of here"?

TATIANA GOLOVIN: Some of us do (smiling). No, I'm just kidding. No. She's cute. She's nice.

Q. It was a pretty sparse crowd out there watching your game. When it's that quiet like that, do you hear things in the crowd?

TATIANA GOLOVIN: No. No, I don't. You just try to stay focused, you know, whether it's a full house or if there wasn't as many people today. You just really need to focus on the game. You don't really pay attention. The stadium is really very, very big, so it was kind of tough to adjust in the beginning. The court did feel small. But, you know, it's just something you deal with and we're kind of used to it, so it's not like....

Q. After the first set, you changed your outfit. Were you just trying to change your luck a little bit?

TATIANA GOLOVIN: Change something, right? Anything could help (smiling). No, but it was getting kind of cold out there, actually, in the shade and the dress was a little too open.

Q. The lefty factor in her game?

TATIANA GOLOVIN: Yeah, but I mean, like I said, I played Schnyder a lot of times. I usually play well against her. I usually return the serve well. It was just my day off. Nothing was going on. It just happened. It hasn't happened to me in a long time. It's kind of -- it's upsetting that it happens today because I did have my chance to go into the semis. It's really bad timing, but it does happen. You just kind of have to move on.

THE MODERATOR: Thank you.

I'm glad Tati is pissed that she missed a chance for a SF in Tier I! Not every day she can get such draw in a Tier I! And I really hope she realizes that she badly needs a freaking coach to fix her lame backhand. And also start being aggressive. It's not like she has a small frame. She's almost 5'11"!!!!

But I hope she can get over this loss really fast because we are actually making progress so far this season. Her losses this year were to Mauresmo, Peer, Henin, Clijsters and Bammer. Not too shabby considering by this time last season she lost to players like Penetta, Santangelo, Bartoli and Dulko :tape:.
