Incredible performance:worship: Seems like Martina has reaaally focused on doubles after her singles loss, and it looks like she's getting all her doubles touch back:D!!! Take the title M&M:bounce:!!!

Finally finding a groove, perhaps? :bounce:

I know Shaughnessy/ALG are both excellent doubles player, but has ALG's slump in singles carried over to doubles? Or was this win really as good as it looks on paper?

And who is next? :armed:

Wicked! :D I keep saying it, but Martina is really dedicating herself to doubles this week moreso than in OZ with Sveta or Dubai last week. I hope these two continue to team up, Kirilenko is great at dubs in her own right but she wont get a better partner than Martina.

Chase down doubles title #37 Marti, one more match to go!

Martina should've been now in both singles and doubles Doha finals (she'd likely beat Sveta,if she had beaten Daniela). But doubles final, and hopefully title is good enough.

Hingis could win every Slam doubles and mixed title for years and years to come if that were her focus.

I agree. She's the best doubles player out there - regardless of what the rankings say

Last week they were still getting to know each other I guess and this week they are winning already.
And despite ALG's singles slump, she has still had decent results in doubles with Meg, so it didn't necessarily carry over.

Martina should've been now in both singles and doubles Doha finals (she'd likely beat Sveta,if she had beaten Daniela). But doubles final, and hopefully title is good enough.
Shoulda woulda coulda. :p

I bet Maria feels likes she's taken a Ph.D crash course on the ins and out of doubles. She probably now knows where to be at all time on a doubles court. Hingis has always been a great mentor to her doubles partners when they were not top notch doubles players on their own right. Zvereva, Vicario and Novotna I am sure only knew what Hingis was already going to remind them.

Mary Jo Fernandez when being asked by the other male commentator (can't remember his name) about her experience playing with Martina in doubles (they won a couple of titles together) said she first met Martina when she was 11 years old and knew then where to stand on the court, when to come in and had an amazing knowledge of the court even at that young age. When they later played together Martina, even though she was much younger than Mary Jo, dictated the play on court and told her where to anticipate the play. :worship:  :hearts:

Hingis is always the leader on her doubles teams, and she often sets her partner up with easy putaways (AK). Anna was a phenominal dubs player anyway, who could hit amazing forehand loopy passing shots and killer overheads.

Hingis could win every Slam doubles and mixed title for years and years to come if that were her focus.

She ultimately can add another 10 gs titles to her name in doubles/mixed. But Theres always the career grandslam to focus on. I don't mind another calendar doubles or calendar mixed.

As soon as martina was dumped out of singles the other doubles players should have been scared. Martina/maria dedicating themselves 100% to doubles in doha is a scary thought.

Why dont Hingis focus on single instead of double.? The double title is less impressed than single. Henin never mind double titles

lecciones
Mar 3rd, 2007, 01:24 PM
Hingis is trying to focus on singles, but its been hard for her, the game is quite different as we all know. Doubles on the other hand, martina can still win those fairly easily. I think she uses doubles as a place to have match practice and try her new techniques or brush up on her volley skills. And also practice her stamina, etc...
