Heather Mills is set to appear on US TV talent show Dancing With The Stars (http://www.starpulse.com/Television/Dancing_With_The_Stars/). Heather, who had her left leg amputated below the knee after being hit by a motorbike in 1993, will be learning to salsa and cha-cha later this year and plans to donate her appearance fee to animal charity Viva.

A source told Daily Express newspaper: "Some may think this is a surprising way for Heather to raise her profile in the US but she has never been stifled by her disability. She is a great skier and a superb dancer."

The 39-year-old former model has always promoted an active life for amputees and memorably removed her prosthetic leg before showing it to talk show host Larry King (http://www.starpulse.com/Notables/King,_Larry/) during an interview in 2002.

The source added: "Heather is keen to build a TV career in the US. The fact she apparently feels she can do the show despite her false leg is bound to create sympathy and headlines."

Meanwhile, her estranged husband Sir Paul McCartney (http://www.starpulse.com/Music/McCartney,_Paul/) is also set to appear on a hit US TV show. The Beatles (http://www.starpulse.com/Music/Beatles/) legend has reportedly been approached by American Idol (http://www.starpulse.com/Television/American_Idol/) bosses to appear as a guest judge on the talent show.

I guess she's reasonably mobile? I know technology for fake limbs is good, but I was unaware it was good enough for her to do a dance contest on a weekly basis.

She must be getting NOTHING from Paul McCartney in terms of money, Dancing pays very little and is generally for the washed up or young and desperate.

She's already done the young and desperate thing in trapping McCartney. I've no doubt she'll cash in on that divorce eventually - she's a razor sharp media manipulator IMHO.

You'll have to watch it for both of us Helen.

Too bad it's not live, what if her leg fell off during one of the routines?

It'd be another lawsuit and more money.

Suddenly her reasons for going on this show are becoming clearer to me.

I bet she has a nightmare of a time getting on planes. "No, I'm sorry ma'am, I'm going to have to ask you to pack that in your luggage to be checked in. No, we can't make any exceptions. What if there was a bomb in it? Okay, now I just have to ask you a few questions. Did you pack this leg yourself? Has anyone tampered with your leg since you packed it? Has anyone asked you to carry anything in your leg for them?"
