So the overall best film even though it was british didn't win the best british film award

"The last king of Scotland" is also nominated in the best film category but lost to "The Queen". However it beat "The Queen" for the Best British Film. :weirdo:

If you want to examine the politics of these awards it's fairly obvious. These are the British Academy awards so they have a British slant. Perhaps the voters vote so as the share out the honors.

EDIT: I just asked a BAFTA voter about this. He says they can only vote for Best British Film in the very first round of voting and they don't get to vote on it after that. He also says the same film never wins Best British Film and Best Film. It sounds like they fiddle it so there's always two separate winners but having that category means a British film gets recognised each year.

Anyway I think the BAFTAs in the past have tended to make far more sensible choices than the Oscars.

The Queen was not my favorite out of those - I liked The Departed and Babel - but it's not offensive to me unlike many Best Picture Oscar winners have been in the past.

World's luckiest female!

But anyway... Eva green was so awkward! But i'm really happy that Forest Whitaker is the man of the moment. Wish it was Meryl istead of Helen - but, guess it's her time.

Oh and Jonathan Ross should not be the presenter - Bring back STEPHEN FRY!!!!

Didn't you know? It's now been made illegal to hold an awards ceremony in Britain without Jonathan Ross presenting.
