Why is it that I cannot take mboyle's avatar and use it as my own (doctored), but infiniti2001 can have my name in his avatar? isn't that... um... the same exact thing

considering how unresponsive moderators have been as a whole regarding the constant use of words like "fag" and "homo" etc. when reported, i expect the same non-response to this thread

I am not a mod but

Hey

I
Am
Gay

are just English words and you don't have any copyright over that while mboyle's self pic is just that

they may be just english words but we all know who he is referring to.

and mboyle's self pic has no copyright either  in either case it is two doctored photos where a misrepresentation is made

but thanks for the response :)

Maybe i misunderstood you, but are you saying that Infinit's avatar has your pic with your screen name written next to it ?

If that is the case then yes its unfair that you are not allowed to use mboyle's pic as your avatar

There is no evidence that it is a picture of him, if it were it would have to be deleted like in the case of Mboyle's avatar. Like you said the username is a common English sentence, there is no reason to assume at this point it was directed at the poster.

even though i don't give a shit about heylookimgay (reincarnated troll that should have been banned long ago), i think that's absolutely ridiculous to say. would it be ok if i took random pictures and captioned them with names of posters here simply because they're commonly used English words or phrases?

so it would be fine if I used this as my avatar:

i mean, using your logic, it's fine.
there's no evidence that i'm referring to you so that would be ok, right? :D

*edit*

oh, i don't need to know.
i already changed it! :D
but i'm not refering to you, so it's fine!!!!!! http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a220/20010/WTA%20World%20Smilies/thfatty.gif

No, that is not what I said exactly. In this particular case it is not clear who is being referred to, it looks like it is just a strange coincidence, not a deliberate pun intended towards the poster. It was in the Mboyle situation, cause it was certain it was his own picture.

In short, it is not ok to ridicule posters in your sig or avatar, but in this specific case it is not clear what Infiniti2001 exactly is trying to do.

I would offer to look into the situation further, but since you made up your mind about my supposed bad reasoning already, I doubt I will be very inclined soon.

Talking about twisted logic. Okay, let me rephrase James' posts: sometimes we give people/posts/avatars/whatever the benefit of the doubt (like your most annoying mods thread). Other times we just know someone's up to no good.

Oh and obviously, we sometimes make mistakes giving people the benefit of the doubt
