A few weeks, if not less, til the practice matches and pre season cup get underway! Is it still Wizard Cup or what? :p

Some 1st Round fixtures to be dug up very soon!

Cmon West Coast once again...make it back to back :worship: :rocker: :clap2:

Back to back pro-Eagles posts to start us off... back to back Eagles premierships... all makes sense!!!

Can't wait for the footy to start, NAB Cup this year Dan. No bloody idea what rules they'll invent... ball has to hit goal umpire to count as a score? Mark must be taken 22cm in front of body? Kicks have to be torpedoes?

WCE play Freo again... same old, same old.

Bring on 2007... hopefully another awesome year... ON FOX SPORTS!!

AFL! :rocker2:

I expect Adelaide to make the top 4 again. While some feel we’re going to drop off, I don’t think it will happen. Sure we’ve lost our two most experience rucks in Clarke and Biglands, but we have Hudson back and some very promising young ruckmen that are ready to show their potential.

Yes we’ve got an old list, but that won’t matter. Edwards, McLeod, Goodwin, Ricciuto are all still great players and I expect all to have good seasons.

The improvement will come from the youngsters. Knights, van Berlo, Douglas, Maric, Meesen will all improve and Thompson, Bock, Mattner, Reilly, all 23, will take their games to new levels.

Why do you laugh? You think Cox is good, you aint seen nothing yet! ;)

But in all seriousness, he is 20 y/o and had a good season in the SANFL last year. He is extremely mobile, can take a pack mark, and I can't wait to see him make his AFL debut!

Nicoski is a gun no doubt. I had him in my fantasy team last year and he was very good until he got injured. :o And don't get me started on TBU, he is terrible! :tape:

Nicoski hurt his shoulder in the intraclub practice match.... not sure of the extent but it doesn't seem good.
West Coast's intra-club match at Subiaco Oval on Friday evening has come at a price, with classy defender Mark Nicoski dislocating his shoulder during the gruelling hit-out.

Nicoski, who missed West Coast's premiership win over Sydney last year after fracturing his right ankle in round 16 against Collingwood, grabbed at his right shoulder early in the second term after attempting a diving smother, and was immediately escorted from the field.
Not good. At least he's injured now and not during the season though.

Still not happy over this TV deal, i just know Geelong are going to be dudded with FTA games. They gave me false hope.

Serious??? What's he like? Tell me everything about our new draftee! :p

He is very light, so he probably wont play for a few years. he is 181cm and 69 kilos (at the time of the draft but has put on a couple since then). He is EXTREMELY silky with his skills, and is pretty quick. He would make a good wingman or possibly midfielder

I think they have seen his potential because they have had him training with andrew mcloud and stuff to learn just that little bit extra.

Todd Goldstein on the other hand is 201cm and 106kg so he is a chance to play this year i guess.

What a great draft it was. So many KPP's taken in the 1st round. Adelaide took two giants with their first 2 picks. Before the 2006 season began James Sellar was predicted to go top 5. However he got ill and he was average in the U/18 Championships because he was so sick. Scouts saw his performance at this time and therefore his stocks dropped dramatically. I’m still in shock he fell down to pick 14 because he has the potential to be a great CHF.

Too slow Mandz, the story of your life.

Lucie has withdrawn from Antwerp.

Too slow? Is that cause i have a life? And don't spend my night online?
Yesterday was all about ice speedskating for me
2 dutchies became world champions
and in the evening, i did laundry and watched tv
then during the night, i slept
and now, i'm at work.

How is that too slow? I'd say, too busy, too much of normal life. :)

Further to the AFL's media statement last evening, the Adelaide Football Club wishes to advise that Simon Goodwin is one of the four players being investigated for betting on AFL matches in season 2006.

Simon has cooperated fully with the AFL investigators and confirmed that the bets were placed by him in breach of the AFL rules.

The club wishes to make clear and emphasise that these bets were not placed on Adelaide Football Club games.

He is fully understanding of his actions and prepared to accept any penalty that arises.

He accepts that he has shown an error of judgement.

Until the AFL Investigation is complete there will be absolutely no comment from any player or official of the Adelaide Football Club, including Simon Goodwin.

The Eagles will dominate again this year, we have lost no-one and, players like Rosa, Butler, Hurn and Le Cras all have another years experience. TBU will kick bags of goals with Ashley Hansen there for great support and I can't see the All-Australian full back being beaten too many times this year. Not to mention Judd, Cousins, Kerr, Embley and Cox forming the most dominate midfield in the comp.

West Coast Eagles midfielder Daniel Kerr has been arrested and charged hours before the club's NAB Cup opener against Fremantle.

West Australian police have released a statement saying the 23-year old from Kardinya was involved in an incident in the car park of Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital around 11.30pm on Saturday night.

The statement said it would be alleged Kerr inflicted damage to a taxi outside the hospital, then allegedly argued with the taxi driver before leaving. Police later arrested him in nearby Nedlands.

He has been charged with disorderly behaviour in public, and will appear in the Perth Magistrates court on March 1.

Langers
Mar 2nd, 2007, 04:04 AM
Tell me about it. I don’t know why they continue to trial these rules during the NAB Cup when they are clearly NEVER going to be implemented into the season proper. For example, kicks have to travel 20 metres? Why not just make is 50 for crying out loud?

And did you see what Krakouer was suspended for? They appealed and successful negated the suspension but it was an accident you stupid morons. :fiery:

Dan23
Mar 2nd, 2007, 04:10 AM
Yea...it was a pretty severe case of kicking in danger....probably shouldnt get suspended for that...but a warning or something would be fair

the no kicking backwards rule is stupid too, as well as play on if the ball hits the post....but the worst thing theyve ever tried to do was take the hip n shoulder out of the game :fiery:

Interesting interview with the Eagles chairman or whoever he was. He admitted there is a drug problem at the Eagles and they’re working hard to cut it out of the club. But he came across as a bit of a tool, constantly dodging questions. I loved it how recent incidents involving Fletcher and Kerr have been “life changing experiences”. Yeah, right.

Because all the good teams don't try in the NAB Cup. All the junk teams put out their best teams in the hope of winning some $ and getting more members. NAB Cup means nothing, and both Carlton and Brisbane will not make the finals.

Oh i see, and i didn't really care about NAB Cup at all because i think its pathetic

To be honest I'm not completely against that rule. I don't mind them coming in 10 metres to throw the ball in, but I don't like it so much when they do it inside 50.

They only rule that has been any good during the pre-season comps is the one where you shoot from straight in front if you take a mark in the goal square.

I am getting sick and tired of new rules coming into play every year. The game worked for over 100 years without too much tinkering and now they are slowly turning the game into a non-contact sport.

That was a pretty irritating match to watch. Almost identical to the Grand Final, again, we missed so many set shots and that cost us.

But I wonder, is Dan still a fan of West Coast? In the Grand Final and now, the team's started pushing players back to help out the defenders, the very tactic that all those fans used to put shit on us for.

Another great chapter in the Sydney West Coast rivalry, the Eagles did a great job without Cox, Cousins, Embley, Fletcher and Hansen. Beating Sydney at Telstra Stadium was always going to be hard considering the fact that we have only played at TS once before.
