OMG..this is worse than Charleston...or Montreal...or San Diego

this is a boring draw with just a few interesting place..even if my Lena won, I wouldn`t be as happy as I should..the only interesting player to beat there is Masha..
but we`ll see

If Sharapova wasn't in such hideous form I would say they should hand her the trophy right now.
Also with field like this Dementieva's got great chance to establish her place within Top-10 for several months at least.

those are not the real seeds
Nadia will probably be seeded 3 or 4 since she has so many points to defend in the next few weeks :p

btw why does your signature say all roads lead to Paris

So because Kuzzie, Mauresmo, and J2HNoMore aren't here it's a weak field? That's only three players. Unless, of course, you want to add in Schnyder.

You do realize this is a rather large field right?
75 of the top 91 are on this list, including over 20 of the top 30 and half of the top 10 (probably more once March rolls around, as rankings change.)
It's not Miami, but it never is.

So shouldnt Hingis be the #2 seed since she's ahead of Nadia? That could change before IW, but I doubt it.

Henin, Clijsters, Mauresmo, Kuznetsova, Jankovic, Hantuchova. Five top-10 players are absentees as well as former top-tenner and event's champion.

For Indian Wells it's not the best field. But there will be also some WD.

But okay, yeah, it's better than in 06 ;)

Basically, yes.

Apart from Sharapova, every hardcourt slam champ since AO 99 is not in the draw.....

Mauresmo - AO 06
Clijsters - US 05
V. Williams - US 00, 01
S. Williams - AO 03,05,07, US 99,02
Kuznetsova - US 04
Henin - US 03, AO 04

Capriati, Pierce, injured and Davenport is preggers...

Not to mention Jankovic, Schnyder and Hantuchova not being there as well...

It's not the weakest draw, but you have to admit that without the listed players,...the draw is severely weakened.

i wish Myskina were coming, but as long as Hingis is there, I'll be happy. I've never sen her play in person and I hope to!!! also some of the people not coming are tough for her, and anything that enhances her chances ain't all bad imho :)

Last year's event had all these players plus Henin, Davenport and Jankovic...

jankovic was ranked like 30 last year. isn't this the event where azarenka squashed her? either her or bammer. so she wasn't even close to being where she is now.

last year, i don't even think half of the top 20 came.

Not the players list you'd expect for IW. I hoped it would've been better then last year but it seems things are getting worser.

Does anybody know something about the entry list of Key Biscayne?

it hasn't come out yet

Raise her game ? And being a finalist in a Grand Slam last WEEK means she needs to improve her game ?

Like some others I thought this event would have a better field than last year but obviously not. maybe a lot of the players aren't playing this event cause then they'll have to play Miami & they wouldn't want to play 4 weeks in a row or they have don't pretty average at the event or have had some bad experience.

Marti will be seed #2 .. is better to play in good form there cause she has a lot points to defend there than in Miami...

I live in California. I've attended both events. Key Biscayne is a much better tournamant IMO. There's a lot more going on in Miami than in the California desert any day of the week! If Indian Wells were in a better location in California...it MIGHT be able to compete. There are a lot of places in California that are superior to Miami...and Indian Wells/Palm Springs is NOT one of them.

If Sharapova wasn't in such hideous form I would say they should hand her the trophy right now.
Also with field like this Dementieva's got great chance to establish her place within Top-10 for several months at least.

You are right...

It is fields like this at a Tier I that beckons the question of why did they get rid of Quality Points? Sure, you should get points by progressing further, round by round in a tournament, but you should also get points in relation to what rank your opponent is as well....

Good oppoertunity for other players to steal some ranking points. :yeah:

Please pull out Sania. Four weeks of consecutive tennis is enough for you. I hope Sania skips this event and plays in Miami.

Ummm...have you followed tennis for more than five years? They used to get significantly more of the top tennis players. It's not the run of the mill tier I...it's a combined event. It's supposed to attract more top players than it's getting. They need to reschedule it further away from Miami if they want to attract the level of players they used to.

If you compare Tier I fields to the fields of ATP Masters Series, it's pretty pathetic.

The entire WTA schedule needs to be reworked and then steep fines need to be made for those who avoid the tournaments.
