Who's gonna win this match?

Maria who's not playing 100%, can she raise her game, especially her serve or can Ai take on the upset?

I'm going for Ai in three in front of the home crowd :worship:

If Maria isn't playing at her best, Ai can definitely take advantage!

Allez Ai!

I believe Maria will raise her game for this one.

I'm gonna say Maria will win this match but she will struggle since she's a bit off her game lately & Ai of course can cause her some several problems if that's the case.

Maria in 2.
Poor Ai. She is thinking about Masha's bad form after tough match against Schiavone. But she's wrong. Masha will raise her game for sure.

Maria struggled because of the change of court and finding her feet again. Now that she has a win and really played a great last set she will take out Ai in two sets. although i think im being very overoptimistic. Whats going on Masha

Please take her down Ai. Sharapova would really benefit from going home early to work on her pathetic serve.

I find it embarassing when the world #1 has to resort to on-court coaching to help her figure out a match. Someone else needs to quickly replace her as #1.

Well she has suffered in her first match :tape: but I think that she will step up her level in her next match, that's why I think Sharapova will win this one in 2

Since Wimbledon, Sharapova has played 28 matches. She lost to Justine and Serena, and won the other 26, including the USO.

;) does it count if his nice or not ? he has to be there to help her to find a way not to tell her to find her a way .and Maria 's coach is Yuri as far as i know .;) .still don't understand when she askes for her coach on court Joyce appears

I don't know if she will still struggle with her serve or not, but either way, she will fight through this :)

She also lost to Dementieva.

I'm rooting for Ai. As much as I make fun of Sharapova, I respect her game. Really basic and ugly but it gets her the win doesn't it? But Ai has NEVER made this tournament's semifinal before, not to mention I flat out don't think with the way Sharapova's been playing she needs to be in another semifinal or even final; she definitely needs to work on these problems.

That said, I want Ai to win, doesn't matter how many sets, but I think Sharapova will still win in two.

Yuri is her father! And she has 2 coaches Michael and her Dad. Michael went on the court in Zurich and Linz and she won both those titles. And if you ever played sports you would know you can't always play great and sometimes thats all you can do fight and find a way its all about winning isn't it. And thats what she did she won last set 6 1!!

so true...i also think Yuri is too nervous to go on the court, and this would putmuch more pressure on Maria so he'd rather see Mike there with her.

Ai always plays well in front of her home crowd. I think it's going to be a close one, I'll go with Ai in 3.

Schiavone is in no way a better opponent than Sugiyama...look at the stats. They don't lie.

GO Ai, she can definitely do it!

If you are talking about hardcourts I would agree, but this is fast carpet and there Ai is usually nothing special, not even in Japan.

i think that sharapova is gona try to step in and smack those serves of ai and the way shes been playing will miss about 80% of the time. And with her serve the way it is she is giving wayyy to many free points off of the serve. I also think the homecourt advantage is gona play a big role as well i say ai in 2 gooo

You should take your meds daily. I'm sure doing so would help with the chronic repetitive syndrome.
