You go girl!
Tokyo 2R: (3) Dementieva def. Likhovtseva 63 75LudwigDvorak Feb 1st, 2007, 04:00 AM YAY!!!!! You go girl! miffedmax Feb 1st, 2007, 04:02 AM Good win. Lena L. always plays Lena tough. (BTW, congrats to Lena L on her fans on the AO title). But on to the quarters for our Lena. UDACHi Feb 1st, 2007, 04:02 AM how does she remain so cool when closing things out? not once have i ever seen elena screw up the slightest lead. it's really sensational. Derek. Feb 1st, 2007, 04:03 AM From 6-3 4-0 to 6-3 4-5. :o Nice job Elena! :yeah: itzhak Feb 1st, 2007, 04:03 AM Lena, You like drama, ah?.... UncleZeke Feb 1st, 2007, 04:07 AM Now Elena plays Vinci, who has won 5 in row here, Peng, Rolle, Yan, Dani and Bremond. Dementinator Feb 1st, 2007, 04:09 AM Well DOne Lena D ,usual drama ,never gonna make it simple ,HOWEVER , tough matches is what you need and you didnt take us to 3 sets at least. Sorry Liko ,good try ,and valiant attempt at taking Lena into familiar territory ,the fabled 3rd set ,but then had that happened ,well ,you know how the story goes ,one of two ways , you get bageled ,or get a nice lead only to see the Golden One suddenly stage a come back not seen since Christ shifted the stone back and wandered out of his cave. Either way ,you woulda been screwed. Liko made it interesting and kept face ,but ultimately ,the result was written in stone today Liko, YOU HAVE BEEN DEMENTINATED! selyoink Feb 1st, 2007, 04:10 AM Glad Lena won. She almost choked that second set though. I'm glad Elena L. got her first win of the year the round before. I just wish didn't have to play Lena in the second round. SIN DIOS NI LEY Feb 1st, 2007, 04:13 AM Do it better with Vinci . LudwigDvorak Feb 1st, 2007, 04:15 AM Well DOne Lena D ,usual drama ,never gonna make it simple ,HOWEVER , tough matches is what you need and you didnt take us to 3 sets at least. Hey, is Elena's official site working for you? It hasn't been working for me since the match had started. Wayn77 Feb 1st, 2007, 04:24 AM Well well Queen Lena cleans up in straight sets!!!  good fight from LenaL :smooch: No Name Face Feb 1st, 2007, 04:34 AM lena  but i mean, good job, you won in straights? -jenks- Feb 1st, 2007, 04:40 AM Congrats Elena!! one step closer to defending your title! :D Prizeidiot Feb 1st, 2007, 04:53 AM Alright, nice start :) And more blogging! ctan88 Feb 1st, 2007, 05:06 AM Congrats Elena D ... azmad_88 Feb 1st, 2007, 05:16 AM good jovb Dexter Feb 1st, 2007, 05:16 AM Good fight Lena  Josh. Feb 1st, 2007, 05:29 AM :) ioni Feb 1st, 2007, 05:31 AM Elena L  Sharapova's_Boy Feb 1st, 2007, 05:42 AM Lena D :D Lena L  Ben. Feb 1st, 2007, 05:48 AM Congrats Lena D, nice way to start off your title defence with a win :yeah: Bad luck Lena L, hope she can do better in her next event :) Viktymise Feb 1st, 2007, 07:15 AM  Well done lena, great draw for the semi's now too, lena matches wouldn't be lena matches without a bit of drama  Foot's Fingers Feb 1st, 2007, 08:11 AM Congrats Lena D Lena L  Hashim. Feb 1st, 2007, 08:16 AM :hearts: :hearts: Beny Feb 1st, 2007, 08:34 AM :) but I like three setters better than chokes...though you managed to win today ..on the other hand, tough matches is what she needs Good luck against Vinci;)! ..and don`t underestimate her. Bolero Feb 1st, 2007, 10:29 AM A good beginning and a good ending. And even a bit of the drama that we Lena fans secretly all love. (It's kind of love-hate-affair, but we take it fondly as long as it has a good ending.) Lena L. At least you made your first win of the season this week. Lena D. be aware of Vinci, see seems to enjoy the court of Tokyo a lot. .Andrew. Feb 1st, 2007, 10:34 AM Yay Lena D! :woohoo: Lena L  Pilongo Feb 1st, 2007, 11:23 AM It was a good result for Elena D., but that's just starting, she has to be concentrated she needs to do well here, but that was a pretty good start. goldenlox Feb 1st, 2007, 11:40 AM I still don't know if either player is playing well. kinglear Feb 1st, 2007, 12:14 PM how does she remain so cool when closing things out? not once have i ever seen elena screw up the slightest lead. it's really sensational. Are you kidding? I'm glad she won. Lena D got a bye for the 1st Round, right? LudwigDvorak Feb 1st, 2007, 12:22 PM Yes. 1R - Bye 60 60 2R - Likhovtseva 63 75 QF - Vinci SF - Hingis/Stosur F - Jankovic/Ivanovic/Sugiyama/Sharapova Not bad, I guess. I'd be scared of either Jankovic or Sharapova in the final though. goldenlox Feb 1st, 2007, 12:34 PM She has a very good draw at a Tier I. But she had a great draw to the semis in Melbourne. miffedmax Feb 1st, 2007, 12:38 PM Have you people learned nothing? NEVER say Lena has a good draw. goldenlox Feb 1st, 2007, 12:48 PM You have to analyze the draw. If she screws it up, it's on her. -Makiri- Feb 1st, 2007, 12:57 PM Elena :) LudwigDvorak Feb 1st, 2007, 03:29 PM It really is her fault if she screws up a good draw. She had a good one last year here, as well. Srebotnik, Vaidisova, Myskina, Hingis; she was already 2-2 with Hingis, taking the last two times, she's beaten Myskina enough, was 4-0 against Srebotnik... Funny, 3/4 of those aren't back here again. miffedmax Feb 1st, 2007, 03:32 PM Hey, didn't you read the superstition thread? Lena never has an easy draw. goldenlox Feb 1st, 2007, 03:38 PM No, you have to win no matter what the draw is. And when it's a draw like this, you have to win, or goodbye top 10. UDACHi Feb 1st, 2007, 03:41 PM No, you have to win no matter what the draw is. And when it's a draw like this, you have to win, or goodbye top 10. i'm glad someone else agrees with me on this. :worship: this week is uber important, and an early screwup just isn't acceptable. LudwigDvorak Feb 1st, 2007, 03:50 PM If Elena loses in the quarterfinal she'd still be #8 in the world, unless Jankovic wins the title or makes the final, then she's #9. So not goodbye top 10...yet. That said, I'm disappointed with anything less than a title this week. DevilishAttitude Feb 1st, 2007, 03:53 PM So much for everyone saying Likhovtseva was out of her slump. I wish Elena had retired last year  goldenlox Feb 1st, 2007, 03:59 PM Elena just won an AO mixed title. She's happy she's back this year. Dementinator Feb 1st, 2007, 04:00 PM So much for everyone saying Likhovtseva was out of her slump. I wish Elena had retired last year  Losing to Lena D is hardly a "slump" I am quite a fan of Liko ,followed her for longer than Lena D ,but she isnt, and never was anywhere NEAR Lena Ds league ,not even close ,so losing to her is not a disgrace , even if you cant stand Lena D ,you have to accept shes light years ahead of Liko , thats fact ,like it or not. Had Lena D lost ,woulda been her own fault , not inspired play by Liko . Liko will be win more matches ,that I am sure and she can be a threat at times ,but not to the top ten. I<3Myskina Feb 1st, 2007, 04:15 PM Yeah great news! Looks like she's gonna make the semi's pretty easily now she's playing Qualifier Vinci miffedmax Feb 1st, 2007, 04:19 PM Elena never does anything easily. But yes, she should move through. Tenis Srbija Feb 1st, 2007, 04:21 PM Nice Lena D :yeah: Second round isn't bad Lena L  Pixie Feb 1st, 2007, 04:22 PM Good match Elena D The Daviator Feb 1st, 2007, 04:22 PM Elena :yeah: DevilishAttitude Feb 1st, 2007, 04:23 PM Losing to Lena D is hardly a "slump" I am quite a fan of Liko ,followed her for longer than Lena D ,but she isnt, and never was anywhere NEAR Lena Ds league ,not even close ,so losing to her is not a disgrace , even if you cant stand Lena D ,you have to accept shes light years ahead of Liko , thats fact ,like it or not. Had Lena D lost ,woulda been her own fault , not inspired play by Liko . Liko will be win more matches ,that I am sure and she can be a threat at times ,but not to the top ten. When did I compare her to Dementieva? And if Lena L is no why near the league of Dementieva than why has she won her twice? I don't care about Dementieva. Where? Lena's 1-4 this season. Hardly inspiring. For someone who is supposedly a Likhovtseva fan, your post is amazingly disrespectful. goldenlox Feb 1st, 2007, 04:25 PM 2 of those 4 losses are to Lena D and Dinara, who are both in the 7-12 range. That loss in Melbourne was bad, but she won mixed, so it was a good tournament for Lena. gmak Feb 1st, 2007, 06:29 PM congrats alyona :hearts:  :yeah: a little close in the end :scared: good luck against Vinci ;) good fight from lena L :D congrats on your first win of 2007 :) goldenlox Feb 1st, 2007, 06:51 PM If Elena loses in the quarterfinal she'd still be #8 in the world, unless Jankovic wins the title or makes the final, then she's #9. So not goodbye top 10...yet. That said, I'm disappointed with anything less than a title this week. There are a lot of players playing Paris and Antwerp. With the new points system, rankings will change. LudwigDvorak Feb 1st, 2007, 07:03 PM I said "yet." For one more week, at least, Elena is top 10. Thank God Elena only has to defend quarterfinal points in Paris. Escape Feb 1st, 2007, 07:14 PM Well done Lena D :yeah: :D Kai Feb 1st, 2007, 07:18 PM Lena D :yeah: :D tobi Feb 1st, 2007, 11:00 PM Congrats Lena D :) Lena L :( Still a great effort win the doubles now ;) swissmisshingis Feb 1st, 2007, 11:01 PM Yay! Congrats Lena :hearts: Rtael Feb 1st, 2007, 11:12 PM Well at least Likky won a match... :p | |
