In Singles, I would say Serena,

but overall, if you haven't either won an olympic medal in singles or doubles. Then I would say Maria Sharapova

Holy Christ--how old are you people?

If we are talking only since 1988, there are only two possible answers to this: Chris Evert or Martina Navratilova. Lumping the others mentioned into this discussion is an insult.

Billie Jean King not having an opportunity to win is also a crime.

i meant Gold.

But the thread starter didn't specify the colour of medal.

If both singles and doubles can be taken into account I'd say Navratilova. But she made her choice not to take part in Olympics until 2004 when it probably was too late so she can only blame herself.

any medal, regardless of color or discipline, of players active during Olympic years:

Navratilova, Evert, Hingis in that order.

also, does Marc Rosset winning the gold in '92 bother anyone else?

I mean of course you could argue Martina and Evert but their time is long gone so i would say Serena so she could have won everything known to the tennis world as far as singles go i wish she could win all the slams in 08 and take the gold medal so she could get the golden slam like Graf but maybe thats askin for a bit too much
