She lost 11 points through the first 10 games!!! And what, maybe 16 points total? I don't remember the last match on the WTA Tour that was quite that one-sided.

Bardina only managed 2 points on her own serve. That is mindboggling.

Clijsters making an early statement.

well i'm never a fan of kim clijsters when she "tries" to put it out there in the press that she is not a favorite for a tournament...yea yea.

but her form today looked liked the Kim Clijsters of 2005 USO Summer season. SHE WILL win that one more slam before she retires HERE if she keeps this up. I picked Mauresmo at the beginning of the tournament, but Clijsters is the most impressive.

The only sad thing is that judging from the first round, the two players that are in the best form, Hingis and Clijsters could meet in only the Quarter-Finals. Should they both get there, the winner has a very good chance to win the whole thing. Oh boy, oh boy. What a pity for Miss Hingis.

Someone should take out that "ominous form" from that Serena Williams article yesterday. What we saw today from Clijsters IS OMINOUS form.

I do.
AO 2003 second round: Kim Clijsters df. Petra Mandula 6-0, 6-0 in 33 minutes.

With the game Bardina plays, this score is not such a surprise.
Bardina seems like a fine player, typical baseline gal with clean, precise shots. This means that she gives Clijsters what she likes: a nice rhythm and fine regular balls to return. However, Clijsters just hits everything harder, deeper and sharper.
Give Clijsters a rhythm and she'll get you out of yours!

hold on you all say she's a fave for the title just because she double bagelled a girl ranked well below her :rolls: had it been a more difficult match I bet people would have said stuff like "oh Kim better put herself together if she wants to go far here" make up your minds people:p
